Bubbling Sail Panel Issue for Dummies
#1101
My argument is that THEY GM, had this TSB issue BEFORE 2002 production, so why shouldn't they make good on repairs. If they knew there was a problem.....FIX THE DAMN PROBLEM, before other people jump onboard.
Why remove the headline sealer to SAVE $$?
Don't think anyone likes spending thousands of dollars on a defective piece of merchandise, WHEN THE MANUFACTER KNEW ABOUT IT ALL ALONG.

I am currently on the phone with a Chevrolet rep and he says he can't find the service bulletin 03-08-98-001. He claims it does not exist, so I gave him the number of a dealership that did the repairs at no charge. I told him it was weird how I could find this info, and obviously other dealerships have this number, yet he doesn't. So.. right now I am on hold while he calls the dealership.
I am the original owner, and the car has just over 46k miles.

Jay Lenoard is the Chevy rep I spoke to, and he said he called the dealership that someone on here said they got their car fixed at, and they claim that was never the case. The PO# does not exist, nor does the service advisor who was named on the invoice.

I got the same run around too, THEY'RE LYING!!!! I was talking to a pontiac rep and she said she couldnt find anything with a defective sail pannel on these cars....hahahaha what a joke. I brought it to dealer and said they've done this change many times. So they called the rep, while i was there and put it on speaker, and told her everything. She basically got maulled and now im working on getting it fixed for free or at some type of discount. Im waiting til next spring, to get it fixed anyways, so i got a good 4 months to drive down the price

Whats crazy about all this is my 97 has not a blemish on it, yet my moms 2000 ws6 has cracked surface coat all over it. It looks like ****. Not only that, but her hood clear is fogging up over 40% of the hood because of clear coat issues. The car was not abused and has less than 50k on it.

I took mine in to hudiburgler in OKC and they told me basically boo who pay us 2100$ and we will fix it. so im dealing with it. mine is like a line of bubbles where the glue seaped through. I also went to a normal bodyshop, they told me they woudl do it for about 1500 BUT if they destroy the roof or sail part it will go up. also car is garage kept unless im at work and it has 50k miles on it. everythign but the roof and sail are perfect. SIDE NOTE GM told me its cuz i wax the car the bubbles show through. TBH i hope they go bankrupt i hate how the car companies look at the customers like {Idiot #135287}

my 99 t-top is looking bad from this, the part has a GM list of 719$ and per the TSB warranty time is 2.5 hours so if its cust pay they will want 2-3 times that stuff like this makes you NOT want to buy GM anymore - I dont want anymore of my tax dollars to go to them for the bailout - screw them! if you cant make it worth a S*** then dont bother.
