its the heat that does it! seen a intimidator edition SS come to car show. has 1,300 miles on it. was hot day at the show. cam in zero bubbles left with like 20 bubbles!

My bad I did not know he had them marked down to $690 and $485. You then add $150 for shipping for $840 or $635. Plus then add $200 for your body shop to paint them. Now we are talking about $1040 or $835. If you have a body shop install it for you add another $100 to the other costs and you are looking at $1140 or $935 give or take $100. Sure looks to me like that is pretty close to a $1000 investment. I still like the junk yard panel price of $75-$100. I'll remove and install my own and I have a friend that owns a body shop and he will prep and paint it for $100. So I'll have at the most $200 and my own labor in one from the junk yard mounted and painted. Which deal looks more attractive to you sir.

I have located 3 good panels, and a glass company that will remove them. I can get all 3. One of them is going on my car and the others I can sell if anyone is interested.

I GOT ONE!!!
It was a major pain in the *** to get off though. I called around all the glass company’s and could not get anyone to touch it. So after some google time I found this. Harbor Frieght windshield removal kit.
I bought one today and spent about an hour and a half getting the thing off. The hard part is coming up the side of the roof. Once you get up one side you can carefully put something between the panel and the car to help the glue separate as you cut. Across the top is easy, but you have to be careful in the area where thetop folds over in the T top area. I still can’t believe I got it off.

I thought I made a pretty good argument, although the official from GM did a really good job shooting himself in the foot. Either way I was pretty happy

2008 was when I had mine done. At that point I was able to argue through a mediator at better business that this should have been covered through the rust / corrosion protection warranty which is 6 years / 100k miles.
I thought I made a pretty good argument, although the official from GM did a really good job shooting himself in the foot. Either way I was pretty happy.

I was lucky, I have a local dealer that was familiar with the issue and knew how to get it taken care of through GM. I never saw a bill nor paid a penny, and I didn't have to fight at all. As soon as they saw the car and saw the TSB in my hand, they said "it will be covered at no cost to you". I assume they used the 6 year corrosion/rust protection to cover it, since the car was an '02. I've been doing business with this particular dealer since the mid-late '90s, and they've always been great to me. But at this point, with the newest of these cars being 10 years old and the panel being discontinued, there is really zero hope of finding any dealer to cover it now.
The service manager from the dealer I took my car to originally took one look at it and told me he wasn't sure what I expected them to do. GM customer service at one point had an appointment set up for me to have the area manager come take a look at the damage, which he promptly cancelled because he said he wasn't going to look at any panels because they weren't going to replace them unless I paid for it.
BBB initially denied my claim, then re-opened it after I appealed and set up mediation. GM's representative tried to argue that had I ever brought my car in for service at a dealer (I will never bring my car to a dealer), that I would have been aware of the problem and it could have been fixed while under the 3yr/36k warranty. My response to him was asking how many owners had been notified by GM of the problem in this fashion and subsequently had a repair completed. He straight up refused to answer the question even after being asked three times by the mediator to do so. I assume the mediator took this as an admission of guilt, and they subsequently found in my favor.
Best part was GM the day before the mediation trying to "buy me off". I had an extended warranty purchased by the original owner that was literally about to run out in three or four months. GM offered to reduce my deductible from $100 to $0. That was back before bankruptcy, maybe they are more humble now.
