Default Painted the Intake last weekend

With the nice weather we had last weekend I took advantage of it and painted the LS6 intake I got from Zach. It's just plain ole' pewter to match the car. Hopefully maybe before Christmas if we have time we'll install it.

Thanks . We're hoping a friend that does detailing will let us use his garage which is heated to install it....will make it alot easier then trying to do the work outside in the parking lot with this stinky cold weather

Thanks. Not hard really. The photo doesnt show how glossy it really is though . We cleaned it with CD2 Engine cleaner used a cotton swab to get into the little crevices where the injectors go. I sanded it down, used adhesion promoter, primer filler, sanded , painted pewter then cleared it. I sanded down in between a few of the clear coats too.

Michelle, I knew I'd seen that car. You work in the building next to me....lol. I'm sure you've seen me pulling up in the yellow C5 Z06 from time to time. ;-) Your exhaust is loud as HELL, and I can tell you like the sound of it too, lol.

Michelle,

Please be careful not to over torque the bolts when doing the install as the paint on the bolt posts will crinkled if you torque the bolts too much. They only need 7 ft lbs or 84 in lbs of torque which is not much at all.

HAHAHA! That is cool! Yes I've seen your car and I think I've seen you once driving it in but usually see it sitting in the parking lot. I'll have to stop over and say hello then for sure . Yes I do like that the car is loud . People at work here say its very loud and they can hear it way in the back. The other day when I was leaving the older lady in the white SUV was getting into her car and when I started it up she said I scared her to death .

Are you there every day???

Haha yeah I'm there every day, I normally drive the red GMC Jimmy. The Z06 is pretty much a fair weather driver. Its actually at Jim McKay right now because 3rd gear went out, and getting 4 new tires. I think its probably the 3rd gear synchro. I've been REAL mad about it because I was really trying to hit 11's bone stock and it looks like we won't have the car back before the season is over. Anyway, if you see me come say hello! Also....did you used to have a red V6 firebird with flames painted on it back in the day? I used to be a member of MAFBA and I remember a car like that.

Frank! Surprised to see you here! You wont see me on the hideout anymore. Tim and I pretty much are disgusted with the stuff there....not everyone mind you just a few and one is very bad. I"ll email you about that. Thanks Frank

Brian....sheesh what a small world. Yep the red bird with the flames was mine! I didnt know you were in MAFBA. Those were the days huh?? I miss them...its just not the same anymore I dont even know where half of the members went to. Did you ever go to any of the Skyline Cruises? I bet you know Tim as well. He goes by Gangreen and has a green 95 Z. You also probably know Frank ^!

I will stop by and say hello. I have seen your GMC. I didnt drive my car today because last night it was acting really strange and it wouldnt start. It took 3 tries till it fired up. It was almost like it wasnt firing or getting gas....was the strangest thing I've ever encountered. The car just rumbled like it was stalling but hadnt fired up....like an old car. Sorry to hear about your vette. That really stinks . Next time you need something done let me know because Tim works on cars mainly fbodies though. He's done alot of work on my car, Franks car and alot of the Hideout Members. Hope you get your car back soon. In the spring maybe we can all meet up? I'd like to take mine to the track....never have and am nervous

Yep, small world! I used to go on the skyline cruises, but I think I only went 1 or 2 years. It must have been either 2000 or 2001 the last time I went. God that seems like such a long time ago. I was really young back then, just gotten the '93, my first Fbody. But I used to hang around with Gonzo and the local MAFBA boys, we used to go tear up the streets all the time back in the day. I haven't hung out with any of them in SO long though, and never really got into the Hideout forum because of all the drama, I tend to distance myself from that. I'm not sure if I knew Tim or not, the name sounds VAGEULY familiar, and I'm not sure I know Frank.

As for the Vette, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that we'll have it back in time to make the last track day of the year. I ran it to a best of 12.2@116 in 104* August heat with about 20 minutes cool down. And it was my second time to the track in the car, and 2nd time in about 4 years to the track at all, haha. I know its got an 11 second pass in it. Those Z06s are AMAZING cars, they really are a wolf in sheeps clothing. After I hit 11s stock I'll try to convince the old lady to let me start modding. Probably long tubes and x pipe, cai and a tune should put me to mid 11s at least. We'll be heading to the National Corvette challenge in February in Richmond. Anyway, sorry for rambling. See ya!

Yeah I try to hit hit EFA, The Hideout & LS1Tech for about 10 minutes each when I get a chance. Of course I don't have a computer at home & when I'm at work it's always ***** to the Wall if I'm not away on business. I'll be looking for the email.

Brian.....There were a couple to a few Brians if I remember right. Did you have the Black LT1? I believe it was a Z28 with a high rise wing?

Nope, that was Brian Tolbert, (GOTSPANKD) still a REAL good buddy of mine. Went to his wedding last September and was at his place watching the skins game on Sunday. I had the purple pearl metallic (gray purple color) Z28, the FAST LT1 as it was referred to by people lol. I used to hang around with Adam (bellaTA-pewter WS6), Gonzo, Ben (asian guy with the cammed LS1 Z28) Mike Kent...had a couple cars, Fred B. (black WS6) Chuck (red LS1 SS) god....brings back memories. I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting, its been a LONG time.

Funny....I guess it was a purple Z! I bet I have pics of it in my 100gb/6 yrs of taking car pics! Where on earth did Adam go to?? I havent seen him in years! Not sure who Mike is but I remember Fred B. Tim came into the scene in April 2002 when he got his 95Z. He was at that SLP day too that year which was my last one I was able to attend.

You cant forget ole Ken Collings though and his wife Mary.part of the "drama" on the hideout back then and part of the reason Gonzo started the hideout. They sold both their birds believe it or not. Never thought "Kerm" would part with it, Bob and Dorie Reese whom I'm still good friends were around then too, Torch TA, LS1 Messiah (Justin) with the tricked out turquoise Z, MattZ28 that had the purple Z LT4. Hes the one that bought Kens Comp.

Illl hunt through my pics tonight or tomorrow and see what I can find Yes it does seem like eons ago. I was also a "youngin"...I feel so old now Blahhh
