Yea, thanks for reminding me this is the PAINT section bud. But books have been filled on the process of a good paint job. I was asking if you had a specific question regarding a specific process within the dozens of steps required to get that good paint job.

Its not something you can really give a tip to. You can either paint or you cant. Practice works if you have the skill. But like I said, theres no tip that is going to help other than follow directions when mixing.

There ya go. That's the point I was trying to get across. I can give you tips on specific things, but not on the overall process. Biggest thing is get your hands dirty, keep everything else spotless clean and practice.

heres one for you guys that can paint when you apply your last coat of clear mix in a very small amount of thinner in with it just a splash though and only on the last coat. i know youre think paint thinner in paint sounds stupid but the stuff really has no effect on clear which is why you can wipe road tar of your paint with it. it will evaporate out of the last coat and actually case the clear to lay down smoother with less orange peel but it also thins the clear so be carefull not to run it

Haven't heard of that one, but along the same lines you can spray a very light mist of reducer on the last coat of clear and that will do pretty much the same thing.

Paint thinner in a urethane clear sounds like a bad idea to me. An approved reducer would work tho.

As for tips, here's one: don't call it painting. It's sanding, with a little bit of paint at the end. I spend far more time sanding than painting. Heck, it seems to take longer to tape something off than it does to paint it.

Well, you've struck up my curiousity. I may have to try it out on a test panel. Are you saying actually mix the thinner into the clear on the last coat and spray it that way or lay down the last coat of clear and THEN shoot a mist of thinner over it?

Amen to that.....any monkey can pull a trigger.....although it takes a highly skilled monkey to pull a trigger and not put an expensive puddle on the floor.

He means to mix in a small amount of thinner with the clear, then spray the diluted mixture. I have heard of this as well.
