Default How shiny?

This might be a dumb question, but how shiny should paint be when it is fresh? I washed my car for the first time after getting it repainted, and it just seems to be kinda dull..its shiny still, but not like a mirror or anything.

I think that you need to wax it to get it to shine after fresh paint

Right, I mean obviously that makes sense

I never saw fresh paint before so I wanted to make sure that it is fine the way it looks right now

It also depends on the color. I think red it one on the worst colors to keep looking good

you really should wait 90 days before waxing a freshly painted car....this allows the pigment to harden completly and will help advoid discolorizing in a few years... on the first wax either do a maguires 6 step program a 3m high speed 4 step...then you will see that wet look you are looking for...

okay I can do that. I'll be a lil concerned about the protection of the paint tho, its my daily driver and only car actually, anything I can do to protect the paint until that time is up? Also, you mentioned the maguiars 6 step process, know any good websites to buy the stuff?

I literally picked it up from the shop, drove it home and parked it in the garage. I hadn't washed it (obviously) yet and I didn't wash it for a few days.

Honestly I never even waxed the car. I spent too much time trying to fix **** that would break (fix one thing, another breaks) so I never got around to taking care of the paint. It just took care of itself lol.

But yeah I never took the car to a car wash since the paint was perfect. Only started getting swirls after I stopped being so careful with it because I hardly ever drove it and it just sat outside. I ended up trading in the car for the SS I have now.

I see swirl marks as well. Did your shop sand and buff the clear? It looks like they might have quit sanding at 1500, then went to buffing. If there is swirls and fine sand scratches the car may need to be rebuffed. Maybe even sanded with 2000 then 3000. Then rebuffed.
A lot of shops use oil based compounds and swirl removers. Sometimes when things are done with haste or lack of quality the sand scratches and swirls will reappear after the oil leaves the paint surface after washing.
