Default Guys with painted valve covers come on in!

I just got done removing both valve covers, both have been primed and painted. I used Duplicolor high heat paint and on the can it says it has a 7 day cure period. How long did you guys wait before putting them back on and how long before you resumed normal driving?

Also the torque spec for the covers is 106lbs right?

Thanks guys

I sprayed mine and sat them in the sun for a few hours, then put em back on and drove that night. So far so good. Still very shiny after about 12k miles

106lbs? probaly closer to like 12 ft/lbs if that. and i would put them on as soon as they are dry to the touch.

While we're on the subject, did anyone put a clear coat on top?

I don't torque mine because of the rubber grommet...I just hand tighten to "good & snug". in either case..i would say around 10-12 ft-lbs.

I painted mine and clearcoated them...I waited about an hour before installing them.

i painted my Lt1 valve covers, sprayed clear, and let them sit over night, installed them and about a month later they started cracking, so i picked up some polished ones and i am going to install them soon.

I used a coat of clear on mine just for the hell of it. Didnt use high temp paint, still looks really good. I just put them on as soon as they were dry enought to handle.
