Default Question about tuning(please help)....

I am going to get my car dyno tuned tomorrow. My question is, what are ways I could "lose" the information that was tuned? For example, if I take my car to the dealership for warranty work, do I worn them about not resetting anything? Is it as simple as resetting the PCM to lose all information. I know this may sound like a dumb question, but im spending a pretty penny and need to know the precautions...

Thanks

I need to tune also and have some of the same questions. Also where are you getting your tuning done and how much is it going to cost?

As long as the dealer doesnt re-flash your PCM you should be fine. For them to re-flash it you have to request it which means you will get billed for it. I wouldnt warn themm of anything. If the battery goes dead the only thing the pcm forgets is how to idle and it learn that pretty fast

Thanks for the responses everyone. Just to clarify, is re-flashing the PCM the same as re-setting the PCM?

No, reflashing is an overwrite of what is on the PCM. With either the same program, a stock program, or a brand new program.

re-setting is when you remove the battery to clear codes and such. It has no effect on the current pcm program

Do NOT tell the dealer you reprogrammed your computer or it will void your warranty.
