Default 00-02 Fan #2 Control

Hi,
I have had my LQ4 running for a couple weeks now and have been troubleshooting wiring [and the rest of the restoration]. I have installed E-Fans and turned on fans in HPTuners. Fan #1 works properly. Fan #2 doesn't. It seems as though HPTuners doesn't allow us to switch Red Pin 33 from controlling HVAC Recirculation Door to controlling Fan #2 door. EFILive has a specific switch to do this {G0106}. Why does HPTuners not have this? Have I missed the switch somewhere? This would have definitely changed my purchase choice had I known this earlier.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks,

Rob

What PCM are you using? I prefer the 12200411, since ti had a wider selection of OS's available for it.
I load the F-body OS system in the PCM and it already has the fan control.
There should be a place to select between no fans, 1 fan or 2 fans in one of the system tables. There is also a switch to turn on or off the A/C door control, you need to have this turned off and the fan set to 2 fans

poconoejoe,
that is the switch I am looking for! I have it set for 2 fans and fan 1 operates properly. when I turn fan 2 on, the relay clicks open and closed constantly. I need someone to tell me where the switch to turn off the AC door operation and turn on the fan 2 control within HPTuners. Do you or anyone know where that switch is? I know where it is in EFILive because I downloaded a demo with a 2000 truck tune.

I am using the 2000 LQ4 PCM that came from a chevy 2500 truck.

Thanks

Rob

I would have taken the opportunity to rig a thermostatic
fan control based on radiator outlet temp, myself. I do
not know about the PCM mode-switching. Never liked
the block-ECT based fan control scheme.

the first step to using a schematic like the F-Body one posted above would be to get the LQ4 PCM to have 2 fan control outputs, don't you think?

I think I would agree that would be optimal when only thinking about cooling the engine. But there is more to "my" equation. "My" equation includes fan control when the AC compressor is engaged also.

I received the beta of HPTuners yesterday and although there seems to be a lot of promise for the new version, it doesn't include fan #2 control changes.

I guess it is time to either have both fans controlled by fan 1 control, let the VA trinary control fan 2, or cut my losses and go a different direction with tuning software.

Why not change to a different OS that supports both fans?
Fbody or Ybody.

I'm pretty sure its DBW, so that rules out the F-body and since he has a 4L80e there goes the Y-body and the F-body, unless he wants to get involved with segment swaps. His operating system does support 2 fans, it just that HPtuner doesn't let him turn off the A/C door to let it work

It is not DBW, but I do have the 4L80E trans. Poconoejoe explains the rest perfectly. I am too new to even understand "segment swaps" yet. I just want the switch available.
