Default dynotune pricing.... how's this sound to u guys?

was quoted a price today of $400 for a tune
my only mods are a lid and full exhaust.... guy said he uses HP Tuners
after my header install my car isn't running so great and i'm throwin a couple of codes for no rear 02's....
pretty good deal or what?

my 2 cents is if it includes dyno time its good if he is going to spend the time and do it right. i wouldnt pay 400 plus dyno time on a car with the few mods you have done. if the mods were more major i would say yes.

Full tuning on the dyno for boltons cars is $350 over this way

are u located in Richmond? If so then i'm like 6 hours away from u... i'm in southwest va.... the place in KY i was gonna get it tuned is in Pikeville, Ky and its only like an hour from me.

and i'm not sure but i think the $400 was for dyno time... so everything... i'll have to double check with him

pardon my ignorance, but how exactly does a mail order tune work? and how much?
also, i kinda wanted to see how much hp my car is making.... but i guess i could always do that at a later time....

Steve has tuned many cars and in mailorder tuning he can calculate what the car needs based on your mods. Steve does top notch work and i think you will be more than happy if you choose him.

If the tuner is competent, a dyno tune is ALWAYS going to be better than a mail in tune, for obvious reasons... every car is different.

Typically dyno time alone is worth $100, so you're talking $125 + S/H + $100 dyno time at a later date = $250, and the tune will be generic off-the-shelf and not customized for your car...

It's a no brainer, get a dyno tune. You've spent a lot of money on mods and you won't get the most out of them by cutting corners on the tune... the tune is what makes all those parts worth buying.
