Default writing 6.0 tune on my 5.3 computer (hptuners)

I have a 2003 pcm from a suburban and i want to write the 6.0 express van(4l80e) tune to it. Do i buy rights to the express van tune or too the suburban pcm? i dont want to pay twice on accident.

Pretty sure you gotta buy both if you want to do it the way you're thinking (if that will even work). What may work better and cheaper would be to just manually copy the tables that differ onto your old tune (if that would work).

I'm guessing you are changing transmissions so the copy/paste will not work. You have to have the license for the pcm and the file so you would need to buy credits for both.

I would use the 60e tune to control the 80. It is so much better when the converter isn't unlocking and locking all of the time.

+1

Use the 4l60e segment, and change some wires....add a relay, delete some codes. Done.

Well the pcm is dbw and I'm going to dbc so I def need to change the whole tune. The trans isn't such a big deal.

Make sure it will work they way you want before doing it. You can swallow up credits quickly with HPT.

Hardware based licensing is so much nicer for this type of thing.

I would say you have to buy 2 licenses, but im not them so it might be a better question asked on thier forum.

If it was efilive, you would not have the issue at all. We lock to the actual computer so you could use it for ANY possible application and it would not require a different license, even if you put it into 50 different cars.

Unless you buy a group license to do all 2003 or something which would cost you more yes you need to license both the pcm and the file

Yes, for sure, you do.

The only other option is talk to caleditor and see if he can modify your current tune file with the options (DBC, 4l80, etc.) that you want.

Either way, you need to make sure from the start that your PCM is compatible with DBC, as not all of them are.
