Default ECU will not read for state inspection

Had a new cam put in with a professional tune, the tuner locked the tune, car runs great no codes. The car is a 2002 LE SS with 12k miles on it, ran car for a whole summer before i had to get a new inspection sticker. I went to get my car inspected and the state inspection code reader cannot connect to the ECU? Anyone have this problem before?

Yes they are connected to a State computer and it is logged into the cars history. So now i have a failed inspection on the history I'm going to give slowhawk a call to see if it has anything to do when he locked the tune?

Do you have access to a hand scanner? If so plug into the odb port and see if it reads. If it does not double check your fuses as that means you are getting no power to the port.

yeah, if he locked it, you won't be able to read the pcm...

that guy needs to unlock it/reflash your tune without locking it...

I never lock my tunes. Your adl port has problems if they can't read it. Probly a blown cigerette lighter fuse.

You really think a state inspection is trying to read the calibration out of the PCM?

At most it is looking for DTCs and readiness tests. Even a tuner locked PCM would allow you to read those.

Sorry i missed your dyno day, i meant to go but my daughter broke her foot by a horse rolling over on her.

Mine is having the same issue, and all my fuses are fine too. I just hope it's not some wiring issue or something.

dude.. sorry... I didn't read his whole post initially... skimmed through it quick and just saw he had a tune and it was locked and it couldn't be read.... (yeah, I know, I gotta read ALL of the words)

I just went back and re-read his post and saw that he mentioned you, and my immediate thought was "oh **** - can't be locked, Slowhawk doesn't do that, and he knows what the hell he's doing".... was going to edit my reply/post to the OP, but saw your reply here already, heh...

so, sorry man, I apologize... was my bad... no disrespect intended...

Don't worry. I know you skimmed it and posted. That's why I pointed it out.

Just pretty much busting on ya.

To op or who ever has this problem. It is either the fuse problem, loose wires at the obd2 connector or someone screwed up a remote starter/alarm install that cuts into the PCM data wire going from the obd2 connector.

Quick Reply: ECU will not read for state inspection
