Default What should A/F be at idle and cruising

Just what the title says. During very light throttle cruising and idle what should a normal A/F be?

That would be the case if he's running 100% gasoline. Most places now have E10, so 14.7 is not the stoich for that.

Cams are not the ones commanding the stoich AFR...the fuel used to power the engine does.

depends on fuel is a better answer than 14.7, 14.7 is a number for a particular grade/blend of fuel. the generic answer should probably be 'stoichiometric'

A/F should be irrelevant. Part throttle and cruise and idle should be Lambda 1. A/F is only a conversion. That means Lambda 1 can be 14.68 for gas, 14.1 for E10, 15 for C12, etc.....guess what, they are all Lambda 1.

or as RHS said, Stoich.

Dont measure AFR. Every wideband has a different conversion for Lambda 1 to AFR. NGK AFX is 14.57, no matter the fuel you are running, that just means Lambda 1. Othe widebands convert Lambda 1 to 14.7, etc.

AFR means nothing unless you have tested your fuel and know exactly what it is and what the stoich AFR is. Lambda 1 is stoich no matter what.

wow. scientific. I was just looking for a good ballpark. I'm guessing 14-15 is acceptable. I'm having some issues and needed a baseline number to compare to

Keep in mind that 14.7 (if you're running E10) will be a little lean....might be beneficial for MPGs, if your car likes it. Still set PE to appropriate % while considering stoich value of the fuel being used.
