and do so before you hurt something. Though 3 degrees
is not much.
Definately need to check for clearnace issues or loose parts or anything else that could cause false knock. you don't want to put more timing in it if its legitimately knocking.

I would check plugs and wires first though.. How many miles are on the car? You might have some carbon build up.. When was the last time you used Seafoam?
When was the last time you cleaned the MAF wires ?
Your timing expectations may be a little high? I can't run 26 or 27 degrees of timing in my car on 93 octane, about 23 is all I can get before knock becomes a factor, and that's running a 6 heat range plug. All of our engines are unique, so your ideal timing might be different than what you have seen others run.
