If you have a ping problem then jacking the timing will get
you more knock retard. You have to get to the root of it
and do so before you hurt something. Though 3 degrees
is not much.

I know I had some timing being pulled last time I was out at the track. No matter what we did, anytime Id get a good launch itd knock and pull timing. Turns out my headers(1 7/8) are hitting the Kmember even with poly mounts. So some more trimming is in order. My advice is to make sure nothing is hitting!

could also be bad fuel...if you have a pretty aggressive timing table and got some fuel that was a few octane point lower than what it was tuned with, you'll get knock.

Definately need to check for clearnace issues or loose parts or anything else that could cause false knock. you don't want to put more timing in it if its legitimately knocking.

Mix some 100 unleded with the 93 and see if it goes away. If it doesn't then you can rule out bad fuel....

I would check plugs and wires first though.. How many miles are on the car? You might have some carbon build up.. When was the last time you used Seafoam?

When was the last time you cleaned the MAF wires ?

If your car is an A4 your trap speed is normal for a bone stock LS1.
If its an M6 your down on power.

Could be a bad knock sensor? If you put good fuel to it, and it doesn't change, it is probably false knock.

Your timing expectations may be a little high? I can't run 26 or 27 degrees of timing in my car on 93 octane, about 23 is all I can get before knock becomes a factor, and that's running a 6 heat range plug. All of our engines are unique, so your ideal timing might be different than what you have seen others run.
