Default programming LS2 flat response knock sensor for 01 5.7

I'm working on putting a LY6 6.0 into my 01 T/A and want to use the LS2 style flat response knock sensors that bolt onto the block in OE knock locations.

What programming trickery needs to be done in order for the 01 5.7 T/A pcm svc#12270411 to be able to recognize and properly utilize the newer style knock sensors.

I'll look at the tunes in all the 6.0's fbodys I have done and see what I changed. Off the top of my head I dont remember having to change a lot.

The stock LS knock sensors are resonant sensors and the LS2 knock sensors are flat response sensors.

How do you make the LS1 pcm select and recognize the different style of sensor?

After that shouldn't it be a matter of loading the knock tables from a LY6 6.0 truck into the LS pcm? Or is it not as simple as cutting and pasting from one tune to another.

In EFI Live you can change the type of knock sensors you have in table (B1402). I have always used EFI Live when I did it. I dont remember seeing the table in HPT. I will look tonight and see if HPT has the table.

Can a 100% stock pcm have the sensor type changed with EFI live. And then turn around and do the full tune using hptuners.

Yes that can be done without any problem.

Every time I've tried to change the sensor type with an LS1 PCM it never seems to work correctly no matter what. Even though the option is there in EFILive I have to question whether it actually does anything or not.

I have put LS2's in several camaro's and the used the ls2's knock sensors on all of them. The knock sensors defiantly worked on all of them. Were you messing with LS1A or LS1B pcm's? All mine were LS1B (99-02)

99-02. Hell even using a mallet tap on the head/block while idling it wouldn't show any knock and that shows knock every time.

Ls2 style knock sensors need signal & ground wires added to the LS1 PCM.

Yes there is rewiring involved but I'm pretty sure it's just pin swapping and grounds to the engine but it's been a while since I've done it.

Using this for my swap, makes it pretty simple.

What are the new correct pin locations at the pcm for the new style knock sensors once the knocks are changed to the flat response knock sensors

I used adapter harness for the knock sensors, I don't remember re-pinning the PCM but I may have being I had he harness out and usually re-did the injector plugs.

The problem is the sensor location.. which is why it doesn't work.

you must also have the correct settings for the knock sensors...

The 12200411 pcm has the ability to use flat response knock sensors since 2002 S10's with 4.3's used a 12200411 pcm with a flat response type knock sensor.

Well you got half of it right, the correct settings are required. Now what are the correct settings is the question seeing as how there isn't a calibration out there that matches up. Been there done that, tried everything and nothing was consistent. Between false knock and not registering real knock I couldn't find the fine line which tells me there is more to it then what's in any of the editors.
