tuning, what to expect?
I've got a 6.0 lq9 with square port heads, custom cam, ls3 intake, 90/85mm TB/MAF, built 4l60e with shift kit and 3200 stall. My issues are;
during cold starts my car dies when you put it in gear. Unless you let it sit and warm up and even then it'll sometimes still die. Is this normal? Can tuning fix this?
Also, 1-2 shifts around 22-2400rpms, it'll either chirp the tires or snap your neck back. Can tuning help prevent this?
My car was built by a great shop, they also tuned it. It runs great other then what I've mentioned above. He did tell me it needed a final tune but work and life just got in the way and now I can't seem to get a hold of him to do the "final" tune. So I might need another shop to do the tune.
I was told by some guys that it dying and shifting like this is normal and I'll get used to it. But i'm not used to it and I want better driveability. Can tuning alone fix the issues i'm having with the car? I don't enjoy driving it like it is right now. It's more of a chore then enjoyment.

Yeah, bottom line, I just want better driveability. Turn the key, drop it in gear and go.
I expect the transmission to shift firmer with the shift kit and all, but that revving up past 2k then WHAM... into 2nd gets old man. So does the repeated cranking.

I'd be satisfied with almost like stock. I understand what you mean about warming up a cam car, but what i'm talking about warming up doesn't help a whole lot unless the temp gauge is almost to norm.

I've tried and tried. I cannot get my builder to respond. I started looking for another shop who'll tune it. Vengeance racing here in ga said they'll take it, street and dyno tune for $590 as it states of their site. The guy who does the tuning is mike.
they are also a vendor. What do you guys think?
Maybe I'll wait to get a hold of my regular guy.

Never had anything to do with them but they seem to have a good reputation. I would ask them how long are they willing to spend with the car on the street to get it right.
I never realized how badly I was being F'd over by the first couple of people that simply slapped the car on the dyno and made a couple of pulls. Handed you a sheet of paper with some numbers but didn't car about how the car drove.
