Default Had VATS removed in HP Tuners. No spark

I finally got VATS removed so I can test fire my 08 5.3 . I appear to have voltage everywhere I am supposed to have it. The fuel pump primes with key on and when cranking. I can see RPM on my scan tool when cranking but no fuel trim. DBW throttle works. I have power at the coils and injectors. If I touch the "other" wire at the injectors with a test light, I can hear them cycle.

I sprayed carb cleaner in the intake. Still *** fire. I'm thinking that the VATS removal didn't "take".

Any ideas?

MIL flashing. Codes: P0443 purge solenoid, P0449 Vent solenoid circuit, P0452 Evap pressure sensor switch low, P0463 Fuel Level circuit high.

Tuner forgot to remove purge solenoid.

Even with VATS enabled it should fire for a few seconds. (Correction: with some ECM it won't fire at all. See below.)
Connect a spark plug test light up to one spark plug. $5 at HF:

Check your fuses carefully. Depending upon your harness there are one or two fuses for each of the coil packs and injectors.

Thanks Mrvedit.

I did use the HF spark checker. No spark. All fuses are good. I checked for power at the coil pack plugs and have power with key on and while cranking. I also checked the injectors. I have power and when I supply ground with a test light, I can hear them click.

This is also a auto to T56 swap. I kept the TCM in place and the VSS works but I don't have a PNP switch. Could one of those wires (X1 plug, position 1?) need to be grounded? I am not using the ECM for the start signal so I don't think that matters.

I noticed the fuel trim data on my scan tool is blank. Is this a clue?

Have you confirmed that there is +12V on the pink wire going to the coil packs connectors?
Please also confirm exactly what ECM you are using. Model # or from what year and vehicle.
Please explain what you mean by "not using the ECM for the start signal".

Even with all info I will not be able to help you, but hopefully someone else.

Who can help him?

well just cause you have ignition power to coils, is it staying hot in key run position. has to stay hot run position.

Update! I took the ECM back to the tuner to confirm that the VATS removal worked. It was still enabled. He removed it again and the engine fired right up. It scared the hell out of me because I was only trying to see if it had spark. Before it lit the spark checker, it fired. It only has about 6 inches of pipe on each exhaust flange so it's a little loud!

Excellent. I corrected my earlier post as evidently new ECMs do not fire the engine even briefly when VATS is enabled.

Why would you want a PNP switch on a T56 vehicle? You should have a clutch switch only.

If it's an E38 you don't need the TCM at all for a manual conversion. There are speed input connections on the E38 itself for manual transmission mode. If you're curious where they go I would look for a schematic for a 2010+ LS3 Camaro. Those cars use the TR6060 without a TCM and the speed signal goes directly to the PCM.

You need X1 pins 71 and 72 for VSS input and 26 for the clutch pedal. The clutch input requirement can be disabled in the calibration if desired. The clutch input (and park / neutral) will only work if the start signal goes through the PCM, if the start signal does not come through the PCM you will have to make a different clutch interlock.

Just trying to save you a bit of wiring.

This is good info to know. I thought it would have fired for a brief moment too.
