Default 5.3 swap doesn't want to start

Right after the swap the car actually started and ran decent. Now after starting and moving the car, untuned, a few times, it doesn't want to start anymore. Cranks over and sometimes chugs like its going to start, but nothing. Weird thing is, i smell gas, but can't find a leak.

Something might have worked loose. Check all connections and grounds, and any chafed wires.

Without a good tune, you could have ran rich and fouled your spark plugs. You smell gas . . . I'd at least look at the condition of the plugs. If a black, conductive film is across the internal white porcelain, your spark energy crosses the easier conductive path there and not at the normal gap.

I’m with g atsma on this check all the grounds. Also check the fuel pressure at the port on the rail.

I know it was running pretty rich, I'll take a look at the plugs tomorrow.

All you do in a flood situation is hold the throttle wide open while cranking. The PCM will go into flood mode and hold the throttle wide open and dial back the fuel. If the car still doesn’t want to start after a few seconds of this, I’d look into spark issues like cam and crank position sensors.

I do know fuel is going into the fuel rails but I'll have to get a fuel pressure gauge and see what it's at, btw do you guys know what the pressure is suppose to be around?

I see 58-60 psi at the fuel rail gauge.

I got a little busy today, so I didn't have much time. I did hold the throttle wide open while starting and it was worse then trying to start normally. Jus a fyi
