Default MAP sensor- Lets talk about it...........

What does putting in a larger cam do to throw the MAP code? Is it ok to just turn off the code, or should I tune something out to help it? What does the ECM do when it throws this code? What negative effects does it give?

Keith (Magnus) did it for me... anyone w/the HP Tuners Pro version can do it , 99-02 PCMs are similar enough so that they can support any of eachothers operating systems

Unfortuanetly the 1998 PCMs are the black sheep of the herd... 99+ use a different PCM than the 98s, 98 F-Bodies and 97 Y-Bodies used an older model PCM, then they were upgraded for 98+Y-Bodies and 99+F-Bodies (so 98s can only run 98 code)

If I had to guess, I'd say that it had to do with the
cam overlap permitting some reversion and the
pulsations squirreling out the MAP sensor or its
"handlers".

I agree with this. The reason I ask, is if it sets the code, and you reset it, while at idle, the car starts running rough for a second. Then, hotstarts are a bitch for a while. I think the MAP Performance code, causes something else to malfunction. I just dont know what.

Why do the MAP, and the timing fluctuate do much, almost hand in hand, during an idle surge situation anyways. I have a log of this happening. I guess I am trying to read deeper into this thing.
