Default surging after converter install

Sorry but this might get a little long.
I just got my vig 3200 installed over the weekend. I have had my cam in for about 2 months before that. When I first installed the cam I had to drill out the hole in the tb to get it to idle correctly, and some tuning changes(that was with the factory converter). Now with the vig I am having surging problems when I stop at a stoplight. The car will idle down where it is supposed to, and then it starts surging, and it dies. I almost want to say that the idle might be too low, but that I can deal with. The only thing that I have noticed is that when I have the a/c going it hardly ever surges. WTF? What is going on? Is the motor getting too much air? Do I need to find a tb that has the stock size hole?

Mine did that after I put in my TCI 3000. I ended up doing
a couple of things; bumped my idle up to 700, shaved the
VE table down a little at 400, 800, 1200RPM. Now it only
cold surges once or twice at start and gives me no trouble
on the road. You might get a little improvement from idle
learning but mine never quite got trustworthy until I did a
little tuning on it.

I had the same problem after my TC install - after increasing idle speed 200 RPM it went away.

With a cam i've also heard increasing idle timing by a few degrees has helped with surging.

Anyone else have any suggestions? I got the car tuned at HPE which is like 1.5 hours away. Is there anything I can do in the meantime to keep it from surging on me and dying in the middle of the road? I won't be able to get to the shop for almost 2 weeks.

I used to shift into neutral when coming to a stop, still surged a little but it didn't die on me.

hate to say this but with the converter I just rest my foot at about 1200 rpm while coming to a slow stop. After stopping let off an it idles fine. I read in one of these posts (search) that increasing the diameter slightly of that tb hole helps.
The a/c difference is probably because your tune is set for a higher idle table with a/c on. If you have a tuner perhaps setting the regular idle tables equal to the "a/c on" tables will help you out.
