Default EFI LIVE, AUTO TAP, AND LS1 EDIT.. Should I buy all 3.?

I have an account with a EastSide in CT where they used to do all my tuning with LS1 EDIT but I live in Raleigh NC now.. So I went out and bought a LAPTOP and Decided to start doin all this my self.

I know I'm buying Autotap for the Diags.

But I don't understand the differences in EFI LIVE AND LS1 EDIT?

Which one to buy? Or do I need both?

Whats the perks of EFI LIVE over EDIT? and vice versa.

Guys I'm really lost and I really need some insight..

I need to do something.. I bought a very high end laptop so It can handle what ever..

Intel 1700MHZ 1500 megs ram.

So you guys are tellin me EFI LIve and LS1 EDIT are the same.. just that EFI LIVE is more recent?

I've been told LS1 Edit has some very intricate things it can adjust.. do the others do that as well?

If you want the ultimate scan tool with editing, as of right now the best "deal" is HP Tuners. I have it along with 100's or even 1000's of others and you can't go wrong. The support is great.

I have LS1 Edit (for my car) and Autotap, but HP Tuners is just about the same as LS1 Edit but with more tables and you get built in scanner, which means no swapping of cables to scan and upload.

Next spring I'm probably going to start using HP Tuners on my car instead of LS1 Edit.

BTW - www.hptuners.com

The autotap scanner isn't as good as EFI Lives. IMO, you can't beat EFI Lives scanner. I have used hptuners and it is also a nice program that allows you to tune and monitor the car. Flash Scan, which is scheduled to be released before the first of the year, will also have EFI Lives Scanner and their new tuning software. Its up to the consumer at this point what they want. Read up on both products and then think about it.

The search button will answer all of your questions. It has been discussed time and time again

We aren't trying to be rude, but there are some things we aren't allowed to post or say due to the fact the other product, isn't a sponsor directly.

Also curious, you have a 383 stroker? Hasn't that already been tuned? Please tell me that you aren't running the Z06 cam in it. Also, I would suggest a lot of reading and research before you attempt any tuning on the automobile.

I have Edit & ATAP, acquired when they were the only game in town. Today, you can get HPTuners which I would probably choose as the best bang for the buck.

EFILive uses the Autotap interface (hardware) but the SOFTWARE is tuned for the LSx where Autotap is all GM cars. HPT and EFIlive offer combined loggers/tuners (well, EFILive's is on the way for a late December release, along with a self contained datalogger - no more laptop needed in the car) and LS1Edit is sort of old history now. Suggest you go the the respective manufacturer's websites and look at the product offerings - I can't post them directly, but a Googlig EFILive and HP Tuners should get you there.

Go HP tuners, best bang for the buck, 499.00 you get 2 car types, with Edit you are locked to your VIN, if you get HP you are only limited to 98 F-bodies or what ever car you have. God I don't understand why people are so rude here, if you don't want to answer someone's question don't everyone knows how the search button works, some of us just would rather ask our own questions.
