Default VE Tuning=VERY Frustrating. Went back to stock tables.

Long story short. My LTFT were -18, did the whole SD mode, drove over 100 miles. Logged and made changes, reflashed...they were still around -16.

Don't know if I am using the most current excel spreedsheet. Can someone post up a spreadsheet that has worked well for them? I would GREATLY sppricate it!

Thanks,
Jason

Jason,

First off what tuning software are you using? EFILive or HPTuners or LS1Edit? Just want to know if you reset your Fuel Trims after reflashing?

Also if you are using HPtuners, you dont really need to use the spreadsheets anymore because you can use their new Histograms. That will get you a better depictation to see whats going on and what changes to make.

I am using tuners. I did reset after flashing, but I didn't wait the 100 miles for them to re-learn.

I have not upgraded yet...I was having computer problems. Is 2.0 that much better? You mean no more spreedsheets?

When you Set up for speed density, you shut off ltrims and stft? right?

And you where making your changes to both ve tables? Just making sure.

No, I am tuning for Ltrims. So, I don't shut them off. How do you turn off stft? I set MAF to 0, disable PE.

You should have two VE tables. You need to make the changes to the secondary VE table when the MAF is disabled. When you have completed the SD tuning, you use the info in the secondary table to reconstruct the primary VE table, which will require some guesstimating and smoothing. I wouldn't turn off the LTFT's until they are within +/-10. The only way to turn off STFT's is to command open loop (PCM ignores stock O2's completely), which is what you're supposed to do when tuning with a wideband O2.

You don't turn off STFTs unless you turn off closed-loop operation...you can, however, opt to turn off your LTFTs.

My advice...save for an LC-1 wideband. The only frustration is wiring it into your setup, and it isn't really that hard.

Tuning in closed loop with LT headers just isn't gonna cut it for ya...they just aren't accurate enough to get the job done.

scott & hpt have made up a bunch of histograms for alot of the things you'd do but you can also make up histograms for just about anything you'd need to do using filters & self made calc pids...it takes a little playing with but not difficult once you do your first couple.

You are using the secondary VE table right?

Too make a custom histogram you go to one you don't want to use and click the modify button on the toolbar. Then you add the sensor data/pid you want to display and then you select how you want it displayed (like by rpm vs. whatever). Its really useful for MAF tuning, but I don't see what you would be doing with the VE that you would need a custom histogram or a spreadsheet if you're using narrowbands.

i sent you something you should try in your ve. Id copy it all and do a special paste>add first off, then adjust accordingly and paste special>multiply by 1/2. Let me know if it helps.
