How low can u go on the IAC counts without setting a code and what effect will this have on your idle.
Right now my car will roll alittle bit when hitting the brakes hard.Or if I come to a fast stop.I set the IAC on the torx at 32 and made sure the car was up to temp.
But its still doing it alittle bit,Its better but its still not perfect.Should I do the idle relearn now that I've reset the IAC counts?
Also where do most of the 224 cammed guys have the idle at in gear, with an automatic?
Any help would be great.

I have the 224-112 cam in my A4. Idle is smooth @ 900 in park and in gear. I have my IAC count at about 37 and the car idles and starts smooth. The key is to have the AC off when you try and start the car. Otherwise you will get surges no matter what.
I assume you are measuring your IAC counts at normal engine temps in park or nuetral of course.

I have been auto tapping a car that the IAC counts are 0-10 and it idles at ~1200 rpms. We think it has a vaccuum leak but we are not sure.
No codes.

I worked to get my IAC count as close to 0 as possible without hitting 0. I have it at 7-10, and it works great. I have the Comp XE-R 224 on a 112 LSA, and it idles just fine at 825 in gear. The idle needs to be raised to 900-925 to keep it from surging w/ the a/c on, but I like to hear the cam. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> It only surges w/ the a/c on when I'm creeping forward. Once I've come to a complete stop, it will hold a steady idle @ 750 w/ the a/c on.

Everyone says to get your IACs at or around 30/35 or less. Mine are at 60-65 in gear warm. I have no surging or stalling, except on warm starts it will stall sometimes but then fire right back up. My idle is 850 in gear, 950 in park. Should I drill the hole more? I think I’m at 11/64 or 13/64.
I guess the real question is, should I even mess with it? I get no surge with the AC on, and the car never dies. The only issue is the occasional stalling on warm start, and sometimes while it’s warming to operating temp it will surge a little when stopping but that goes away as soon as I get to temp.

Joel,
Are you having surging with the 224 cam? I'm kind of in the same boat. My car has the warm start surging/rolling. It stalled on me 6 times in Wawa's parking lot lastnight. Very embarrasing. Can Julio EDIT the problem out? My problem started with the 112lsa cam.

I have the HotCam and the same problem. i have drilled out the hole to about 1/4" and i still have surging when i'm coming to a stop. I have the idle set to 800rpm in gear and 825 w/ a/c on. It doesn't seem to do it as much with the a/c on so i'm uping the idle a little bit to see if that helps. On 2000 and up cars there is a vacum distributor(not sure of what to call it) on the back side of the driver side valve cover. I have disconected all air and egr stuff on my car and i was wondering if i need to plug up the three holes on this device in the back as well. Anybody done this and found if it helps or hurts? Thanks, james.

I got it almost perfectly,I get alittle rolling at first start but it smooths out within 15 seconds.
I dont stall under hard braking or hot start up anymore.I wanna tweek it alittle more at the shop to see if I can totally remove the first start roll.I think I need just alittle more opening on the blades.
