U guys are scaring the shi.........
If you read up on the LS1, and ask questions as you make your decisions, you're not going to have huge issues.
When you break new ground, you're going to run into problems nobody has seen.
It is a new breed of engine and there is a lot of enjoyment to be found with them.
He's right. Buy a M6 and you'll have fewer problems, just plan on replacing the clutch.
I'd advise staying away from the Hypertech. Save your money, but a cheap laptop(they're for sale all the time on here) and LS1edit. You'll learn what you are doing and can do all the programming you'll need.
I'd keep the 68 and buy a new one

Most of the T56's last a hell of a long time through a hell of a lot of abuse. You have to remember that people rarely post "Yy God, my T56 has worked flawlessly for 100K miles and over 300 passes" in a technical help section.
The clutches are weak, be prepared to replace that. Otherwise, the problem are relatively few.

every make/model has problems... to run the best we just choose to fine tune the cars. You just see the bad apples that cant get things straight, but outta those 2-3 ones with issues its 100+ running great
its so many things we are learning right now. With edit we can tune anything anytime. A few years from now and all of this will be childs play and tubing will be SIMPLE
I've owned two LS1s. A '99 Z28 6-Speed that did great for a while but then became a huge head ache when I chose the wrong set up, IMO. Now I have a '02 Z28 Automatic. I'm already running faster than my '99 and I'm still using the stock converter. I love these cars and wouldn't want any other.

And who said the M6 cars have fewer problems hasn't done their hw.....m6s break rearends clutches and everything frequently....especially with unskilled drivers.....the A4 is much more dependable...i would know...i have one....

I think his point was from the tuning aspect.
I've done more stuff to my 99 T/A than my 72 Vette. I don't understand Q-jet's or points worth a damn. I worry about messing some vacuum line or something up on the 72 way more than getting a code on the 99. At least the computer cars can kinda point you in the direction of what's wrong. Most basic mod's for the LS1 are pretty simple and easy to do.
