In terms of the actual upgrade, when we released the EIO upgrade at a cheaper rate for existing customers we got an INCREDIBLE amount of feedback from new purchasers who waited saying this was unfair, etc. etc. Likewise, at the same time we offered 2 vehicles instead of one on initial purchase and then got similar feedback from existing customer saying it was unfair etc.
Since it seems we can't win either way, this time it is level playing field for all...

they have completely redone their whole approach. well worth the wait. we are just impatient thats all. we had a taste and wanted more. cant wait to see whats next.

^^^ how'd you come to think that?????
Since the release of HPT (2003 I beleive when they were the first company to incorporate tuning and scanning in 1 software package) they've always been able to scan realtime... what other kinda scanning/logging is there??? (how do you log non realtime? "that access window in my block is new" ... "sux only having 7 rods now" .... "sure is alot of pinging... wonder what that is?" ???

I havent really jumped in here yet..but now I am....
heres the low down that will hopefully clarify things up fro everybody....
IF you have a serial interface:
you do not need to upgrade if you do not desire to..
old pricing still applies of $199 till you have 4 vehicle types on your cable and $399 for the 5th one and above...
if you chose to upgrade to usb:
Serial Std/EIO to MPVI Std - $149
Serial Std/EIO to MPVI Pro - $199
MPVI Std to MPVI Pro - $289
if you are a new customer:
VCM Suite GM Std - $499
VCM Suite GM Pro - $649 (Enhanced I/O which has black box logging..and its over an hour and a half with 24 PID's and all 4 EIO inputs being used)
once you have a usb inerface you have a whole new world of options.
Everything is based on "credits"
which means you can buy credits..and hold on to them for a time when you wish to apply them...
they can be appied as unlimited vehicle liscenses..
most vehicles 6 credits($300)
ls2/ls7 vehicles 20 credits ($1000)
single vehcile liscenses for most vehicles 2 credits ($100)
ls2/ls7 vehicles 4 credits ($200)
yes LS2/LS7 is more expensive...it also took a lot of work to crack teh pcms for a vehicle with so few on the streets compared to the other vehicles...research and development costs time and money.....
some big time benefits to the new credit system....
you can purchase credits and apply them when you want...meaning you dont have to know ahead of time...
also its almost instant when purchased thru the orders page on the HPT site...so you can have a customer come in and you can have credits purchased on the spot and dont have to tell them to come back tomorrow...(especially useful for the tuner shop..specialize in just a few vehicles..but be able to tune just about any walk in..exactly when they walk in.)
USB guys also benefit from being aboe to do FORD and DODGE..scaning and editing....
so now your generic ls1 shop can tune mustangs and hemis and every thing else...
the only downside is the person who has an old serial interface wont be able to take advantage of the new pricing benefits from single vehicle liscenses
and as stated before...
you dont have to upgrade to USB...but it is a wise choice to do so for many of the benefits listed above

I can see one problem to the credit system.
Say you buy the new interface and it comes with 8 credits and you use 2 of them for your car/truck. You buy, let's say 10 more credits for $499.99 for "Future Use"
Now you have a total of 16 available credit to use at will.
Say your future plans change and end up NEVER using them, what do you do?
Could you get a refund of unused credits?
I just see a lot of people buying more credits than what they really need and never use all of them.
Not shooting the system down (if used wisely, it's a great system) but just showing a senario where this could be a problem.
