Need Help!! SES light is killing me...need adivce from the experts
Hey Everyone
Well I am having a problem with an SES light that has just recently occurred. For the past three weeks now as the temperatures have gotten colder I have been getting an SES light when I drive the car hard. I have a lid and KN filter however, I also have a Granatelli mafs and the replacement truck PCV valve (which did nothing might I add). I have tried resetting the computer and I can only make the light go out when I make the computer totally relearn. However, after about 50 miles and when I drive the car hard (numerous WOT runs) the light comes back on. I do not have access to AUTO TAP thus I cannot read the code. I recently had a Star Spec III clutch installed, could that be part of the problem? The car appears to run fine and still pulls very hard. Any and all suggestions are welcome. I want to get this taken care of before I put the Stage II ATI setup on.
2001 Z28 M6.
Sincerely

Since you don't have access to autotap, the best thing I can think for you to do is go to autozone and they have an OBDII scanner and they'll scan you car for free in less than a minute <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> Keep us posted on what the problem is and lots on here can help if need be

Yeah, get Autotapped. You'll be amazed how much you use it.

An OBD II Scan Tool is a must these days unless you want to run to AutoZone everytime your MIL comes "ON". Since 96 troubleshooting an internal combustion engine ran headlong into the space age. You can't expect people to help you unless you give them the DTC that turned on your SES. You also need the factory shop manual so you can follow the correct procedeure once you decode the DTC. You can't shotgun your car anymore. It's too expensive!

Hey everyone
Well I dont know what is wrong with it yet, but I purchased auto tap which should get here soon. Thanks for all your advice, I am going to scan it first before I take it into the dealership (provided it is a warranty item). I hope that it is only the 02 sensors, that would be a cheap quick fix. I have not noticed anything wrong with the car and it appears to dive fine. I have it parked until I can determine what is the problem, no point in adding the cost of an engine to the cost of the blower as well. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Thank you all for your advice.

One thing u might wanna do is investing in a scanmaster. This is one of the very good investment I made in my 2000TA. Its really worth the money. Its funy u mentioned the SES light. I have that in my car all the time and it never turns off. The reason is coz I have long tube headers with O2 sensors simulators. For some reason my computer is not reading the simulators and thats why I have SES light all the time. Its not hurting anything except my feelings when I see it. In ur case I suspect that something might be wrong with ur O2 sensors. Check on that before u go any further.

Well I found out what the problem was, thanks to everyone who tried to help. In the end it was the new clutch. Jason at fbody central neglected to adjust the transmition switch when he installed the new clutch, thus an ses code. I can't say I am totally happy with that considering he is supposed to know what he is doing. I also noticed when I was there he broke somsone's sensor when reinstalling a built motor. He tends to be very loose in his shop and I noticed marks on the car when I got it back. From my personal experience, I would not take my car back to him. I know some are very loyal to him, but based on my exp I don't see why. Oh well I had to repaint those quarters anywase. Thanks again to all those who helped out.
Oh and the blower should be on in three weeks.
