Default O2 Sensors .....

When I Auto Tap and am also using the dyno wide-band A/F the Auto Tap shows about 0.8 richer than what the wide-band does which is more accurate. Is there a "better" O2 sensor that can be installed to get more accurate readings???

Kevin, I know exactly what you mean.

My O2s read 80mV above a wide band on the chassis dyno that I use to tune my car for WOT, so I just make an adjustment in my head (and I dont mean the cylinder head). With the wideband at 880mV my O2s read 960mV.

You can go out and buy 100 O2 sensors and you may find one that reads 880mV when the wideband says 880mV. But why bother. Also, our O2s are very dependent on the exhaust gas temerature.

I am not much help here.

The only place the stock o2 sensors are accurate is at 14.7 afr (i.e cruising). They are not used by the computer during wot. I have a wideband o2 sensor in the car but of course that is to help me tune. If you want a setup that actually will use a wideband o2 then you have to add a aux pcm like "FAST" or DFI. "FAST" is available for our cars.

What about having an auxillary A/F gauge added. are those more accurate then the 02 at WOT <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Actually, it does help. It means the O2 sensors are never quite accurate and it is always best to use a dyno wide-band to test refine the AFR. I can use the Auto Tap AFR and O2 levels to "ball park" it and then head to the dyno again.

I adjusted my PE table by 97% to try and get it closer to where it needs to be. Now I just need to Auto Tap it and see if it made a difference.

Thanks Doc!!!

99% of the Air/Fuel Gauges out there us the stock O2 sensor voltage to give you a readout. So you are just as good to look at the O2 voltage (which isn't accurate at WOT).

Others use exhaust temp. Which is an okay method of determining a/f.

Your saying have 8 egt sensors. What good would that do? Is there any way to adjust each bank (or even better each injector) so each cylinder gets the exact amout of fuel it needs?

Install a wideband o2 in the car. Several people on the board have done this including myself. Little pricey but the Turbo guys it makes life a lot easier. For more protection have a wideband and 8 egt sensors. That way you know cylinder to cylinder variations.
