speed density tune
ive heard that one reason to use a SD tune is if your running a big cam or boost over 8lbs. besides these two reasons are their any advantages to running SD over MAF set up?
how big of a cam would someone need to be running to have to switch over to SD? im currently using an f14 and will be installing a set of darts pretty soon would i be a candidate for SD?

I can tell you a disadvantage. Depending on your weather/climate you might run into some issues. 4 seasons can sometimes mean 4 different tunes. They might vary ever so slightly, but in some cases that is what you have to do in hot vs. cold or humid vs. arid.
You can run whatever cam you want with SD. It is just a -MAFless tune. I know of someone who runs a Futral cam with SD tuning from SQR.

Doing a SD/VE tune will help any car - stock or modified. The noticeable gains will be more dramatic whether being boosted (from NA) or swapping to an aftermarket cam.
It is well worth doing.

It takes a lot of time to set up, but will make having a cam and daily driving a lot better. You would probably make a lil more power with an SD tune also, this could be b/c the maf is out of the car though..dunno. SD tunes are a lot more time consuming than MAF tunes are. And you do need to change them according to the different types of seasons and such. I am on an SD tune.

SD is great. My idle is awesome. It does not hang @ all!. Its amazing what the car felt like in SD. I would highly reconmend you take it to someone who knows what they are doing. Its not something you want to be guess at. Especially on a boosted car. You will have to build the VE table etc from scratch. So knowing what you are doing is the key to a great tune. The wideband is a great tool to have while doing SD

Both sd and maf tunes have there advantages and disadvantages do what ever your tunner feels more comfortable with. Also boost cars run sd tunes with 2 or 3 bar map sensors other wise you need a maf to give you a little more room to work with.
