Default Idle relearn?

My battery went dead, and i ca'nt get the car to relearn the idle, it keeps on surging. I have been getting the car up to operating temp, then roll down the window, go disconnect the battery, wait 10 secs and then reconnect with no accessories on without opening the door, and i cna't get it to idle right. It keeps surging i tried a couple of times, anyone have suggestions or ideas, maybe i am fogetting something or not waiting long enough for the car to relearn the idle i can't figure it out?

It should relearn idle by itself - without disconnecting the battery?

Assuming the battery is good then something else is happening - no SES light?

Well thats just it i don't know if the battery is good, its the stock battery, myabe i should go get it tested, or better yet get a new battery. I do have a ses light but its for AIR and EGR because i an LS6 intake on it. Do you think it could idle funny because i have a bad battery?

I'd bring it to someone like Auto Zone and have the battery load tested, they'll do it free, then try again. Didn't have idle issues when mine died but both happened over night, one gave me the clicking deal on a start, the other just completely died and wouldn't even unlock the doors with the remote - and the hatch was popped. Both cases the voltage gauge read fine the day before. You could also have another code unless you just checked them today.

I have a diablo and i checked the codes, and the only ones that were thrown were for the egr and air. So i don't know what to do. But if the battery was bad would it make the car run like that?

No way because i haven't messed with that lately. It ran fine before i put my hids in. Then the battery went dead. It can't be anything like that. Another person said it could be a blown head gasket, but i can't see that happening because car hasn't been drove
