Default LS1edit worth it on internally stock car?

Just wondering if its worth it to shell out the dyno tuning time for LS1 Edit on a full bolt on car. If its possible, Id like to squeeze out 360 RWHP internally stock.

Definitely not wirth it. What are they going to do to make you make more power and what for the $500? Maybe delete some codes you and then advance the timing a bit. Ive seen it where they advance it too far, and the computer pulls more timing out from knock then you started with. Id wait until you get a cam and/or heads.

Well you can fix the speedo if you've changed gears, reprogam the fans if you've changed t-stats, kill the CAGS if you have an M6, and remove the speed limiter if you want to go over 162mph (good for bragging rights if nothing else.)

You can kill CAGS with LS1 Edit? I didnt know that. I have a 160* t-stat in my car right now, so what temp would be the best to set the fans at? I really dont know anything about this tuning stuffs.

Contrary to Asianice

tuning will get you a bit more power with some of the above mentioned editing. $500? If I recall thats for practically unlimited tuning, depending on the tuner. So if you add and intake and want to check things you can go in. If you add headers then you could go get the car tuned for that.

Basically its an upfront price. The best thing to do is find a tuner near your, preferably a sponsor, and ask about it. Doesn't hurt.

Sure it's worth it. Headers alone should really be tuned in...

There are plenty of parameter tweaking that would help even a completely stock car:

If you have an A4 change the shift points and firmness.
If you have an M6, disable cags.
Remove Torque management.
Lower fan temp on/off setting.
Add a little timing at WOT.
(Kill than damn speed governer)

The list goes on and on...
And as you do more mods, which you WILL, you really need a way to tune your car's A/F.

Good luck.

id say yes you will benfit form the tweaking avaible from ls1 edit espaically if you have long tubes but its moot if its worth $500 if you plan on going further your gonna need it anyway but if your pritty much done you'ld be just a good buying a used predator for like 1\2 the cost. also if your auto tranny a tc would result in more gain but then you need ls1 edit sometimes to make that work properly. and like some have said tunning from headders will net power. with longtubes tunning is almost a must (IMO)

I had mine done a couple weeks back, alot of things adjusted including fan temps. However, mine was $400 and only includes one return visit. It was done with me driving the car instead of using a dyno.

I am also disappointed in my first dyno run from Friday. So don't know what's up.

For $1.00 you can get rid of CAGS with a resistor from Radio Shack.

There is a post made, I believe in the Drag Racing forum on this board by a "Larry" about tunning, you should read it. My car is SI and I plan to do tuning in the very near future.
