02 Tables Set To 250

Default 02 Tables Set To 250

I had my car tuned and was told that my o2 tables were set to 250. did a search and couldnt find any info, can anyone explain why they were set that way? 98 ta a4

if you mean set to 250 degrees, then because it had been switched to open-loop operation.

i was told the rich/lean table was set at 250 across the board

Sounds like he is talking about O2 switch points.

The O2 switchpoint is the voltage where the PCM decides this is too lean or this is too rich.

Do you have headers?

I have slp long tubes, ls6 cam, intake and bolt ons. The car has not been tuned before, at least nothing else was changed and do you think it was from the factory like that? The headers were on the car when I bought it, but everything else I have done.

Factory for my year, the switchpoints were mostly at
or above 350mV. If you tweak them down you are
effectively leaning out closed loop some. How much,
nobody knows. Too much, and you may end up unstable
(if the O2 bottoming voltage is higher than threshold,
no crossings will be found and trims will swing wide).
If the wideband center is leaner than 14.7 in closed
loop this would be one likely reason why, or the desire
to have it leaner may be why it's got those values.

DING DING!!! Jimmy nailed what I was about to say. It isn't an exact science because the error of the sensor grows as you get away from the target 14.7 AFR the sensors were built for.

This is a compensation for the sensor not reading correctly because it is farther away.
