Default How do you connect HPTuners to laptop?

My searches have not resolved my question. Do you need a have to have serial port on a laptop or will the HPTuner plug directly into a usb port? Thanks.

Don't be so quick to judge. They used to come with a serial cable, which is what I still use.

wasn't trying to be quick to judge, just thinking since he has 5 posts that he either just found out about this great site, or that he just recently purchased hptuners and has a new copy

I'm getting HPTuners Friday. I was also looking for a laptop and wanted to make sure I had the right ports. I am new to the site as I traded my motorcycle for the 99' T/A. I had a 79' T/A, but never an LS1. I have always found these boards to be extremely helpful...this is one of the least snooty ones I've been on.

nice nice, a 99 t/a ls1 i must ask, have you been enjoying it so far.

and yes, usb interface is what efi live and hptuners have, so any laptop these days should have ya tuning in a matter of 15min install time for drivers and software

I like this T/A much more than my 79'. Before I had no cruise, cd player, intermittent wipers, no heat, etc... With all the bolt-ons this ones at least twice the HP and loud as sh*t. I love it! I can't wait to hook up the software tonight. I need to change my TCC lockup mph first.

what are the major differences between the PRO and STANDARD versions? Pro comes with an interface eliminating the use of a laptop? And Pro lets youse connect a wideband to HP Tuners, which standard will not?

I thought you could hook a LM-1 to hp tuners? I just got my cables in the mail today so I'm going to be messing around with it later this weekend.
