My recently restored 75 Trans Am
Hi everyone. New to the forum. My name is Jorge and I thought I would share my newest project. It's a numbers matching 1975 Trans Am. It's an automatic car with the standard black interior. Color is Buccaneer Red and the wheels are Foose 18s all the way around. I have the original Honeycombs waiting to be restored. The original 400 was bored .030 over and the compression is now a respectable 10:1 versus the stock 7.6:1 (I think). Either way it was very low from the factory and rated at 185 HP. I didn't have the engine dynoed, but my machinist states it's producing approximately 350 HP and well over 400 Torque. I kept all the original parts just in case and they are safely stored. Long story short. The car was going to be used as a parts car for another T/A. I convinced the owner at the time to just let me restore it. He laughed thinking it would never get restored. He has then since seen the car in it's current stage and he cannot believe the transformation. It was recently featured in "My Pontiac & Me" in High Performance Pontiac Magazine (March 2009 issue).
Needless to say, I am pleased with the results and it's a blast to drive. I have taken it to several shows already and it has won a few trophies.
Well on with the pics:

I agree. The 18s would look better without the rivets or like you said whatever they are. You're correct in saying that they are a bitch to clean. But I like them none the less (they're not so bad) and my focus for this coming year is to restore the Honeycombs. I like Ralley 2s, but I LOVE the Honeycombs. Can't wait for the restoration.

It also helped that the car was in solid shape. Only rust was on the rear lower passenger quarter. About 4" in diameter. My body guy cut it out and then welded a new piece.

Looks great Jorge, that car even in the starting part of your project was hardly a parts car, looked like it was a very solid California car. A lot better then most. Amazing job, they have gone up in value over the years, so your hard work will pay off literaly when you decide on another project.

Thank you, I am to. Especially a 74 SD455
Thank you, I can't wait to get started on the resoration of the Honeycombs. I just didn't realize the cost of the center caps and trim rings. Ouch!!!! But they will be worth it.
Thank you. The car is a solid car, but the engine was seized and the tranny needed an overhaul. As for the rest of the car, it was missing the front lower valance panel and it was missing some of the wheel spoilers. The interior was just a mess. The good news is that everything good was cleaned and or restored. Great car and fun project.
I have no plans on selling the car, but that old saying of "everything is for sale at the right price." I just can't see selling her though.

Mkes me wish I still had my 75. Was my first Pontiac. Drove it into a bridge piling back in 85. Don't drink and drive anymore. I have had a 77 Formula, have a 68 Bird that I drag race and a 94 v6 Bird that I DD since then. Have owned Birds since 82 except for a 6 month stint.
NIce job.

Ouch! I feel for your 75. I hope you weren't hurt. Glad to hear you have a couple more birds to play with.
