Been workin on it for a couple weeks now. Had a blown head gasket. Ended up doing heads, cam, intake, mail order tune and LTs. First start up today and ran perfect. Nice to NOT see the trouble code light on. Should get the exhaust installed tomorrow and get to the car wash. Couldn't have done this without all the knowledge I gained from this forum. BIG thanks to everybody on here.

Installed ORY and SLP LM II exhaust today, still working on getting the coolant filled. Heater was pumpin out heat tonight so must be getting close.
Had one member on here estimate 365 rwhp. It might make that I guess.

I got what I think is a KILLER deal today, this guy had a craigslist ad up for all the spare parts he had from a T/A he stripped down, he's got an old 70's datsun 270z (I think it was a 270, I can't keep all them straight) that he's building into a "go fast" machine and when he was looking for an LS1 he opted to buy an entire 98 T/A as for whatever reason he was able to get it cheaper then buying just an LS1 motor so he was selling off parts (much was already gone as the ad had been running for a while and the reason I saw it was he just refreshed it the other night) but I was able to score a T/A rear bumper (in better shape then most on ebay, pics tomorrow) with it's "crash bar" (that plastic thing that mounts to the body and the bumper covers) and T/A side skirts (minor cracks at end, I can fix them) for 125 bucks, then while I was down there looking thru the remaining other parts I asked about the T/A (monsoon really) door panels (as in the ad he said 20 bucks a piece for interior panels) and he said for another 50 I could get the door panels, sail panel and kick panel plastics (he had already sold the hatch plastics) so naturally I jumped on that, the reason for that is I have the charcoal interior and I've always thought of trying to find a way to do a charcoal/tan 2 tone interior.
now is where the real fun started, we had to get ALL of that into my firebird, and as most of you know I have a big *** speaker box in the backseat, so after a game of "yes, no, maybe so and got it" we where able to get it all in the car and I had to drive home with my seat slid forward some and tilted like straight up and down.
oh yeah, anyone in or near atlanta in need of a non-broken upper dash pad from the 98 up era the guy has one for 125 (I couldn't afford to spend that much more) hope this isn't against the rules, here is a link to his craigslist ad http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/pts/4149674254.html , I hadn't planned to buy these parts this soon but the price was to good to pass up, have any of you found stuff this cheap?

No I called my tuner to double check he said during hot weather run a 20w-50 and during cold weather use 15w-40. The person who had the car before me was using NAWS and when they converted it back to stock they messed up the engine really bad. I was using a quart of oil between oil changes. I try and change it every 3k miles. What the person did wrong was he/she didn't set the piston rings correctly which dug groves into my cylinder walls and my tuner had to hone it out he reseated them properly. So I need the heavier weight because the gap isnt big enough to go up in size on the piston. I was thinking the same thing once he told me what weight I need to use but since all he does is build drag cars I believe him. I thought that kinda weight was for diesels but I guess not.

The oil was leaking back into my intake from the PCV (I believe that's what its called) valves plus the piston rings digging grooves into my cylinder walls it was a nightmare trying to figure out why i was using so much oil. it wasn't until my lifter went bad and I had him do a damn near complete rebuild of the motor is when I found out why it was using so much oil.

Did the CETA mod on my T/A yesterday with Plastidip and I think it turned out pretty good! Next I need to take some painter's tape and carefully outline "Pontiac" so I can paint the letters matte black or gunmetal grey.

got my T/A rear bumper on today, had a family lunch for my brothers birthday (a few days ago) and one of my sisters birthday (about 2-3 weeks from now) then had to take a computer back to the guy I repaired it for and install his printer so I could get paid, so it was nearly 5 when I got home so only had enough time to the old off and the new on.
Also here are some pics of the bumper and side skirts, the bumper has some peeling clear coat (which doesn't matter since it needs a repaint to the right color anyway) and there are the typical scrapes on the side skirts really great for the 125 I payed for all of it (another 50 was spent on the interior pieces a few posts up.

Sequential Lights and E-Brake Cover Today I installed Sequential Tailights from Web Electric Products ( I think I got them from Afterthought, but they have been sitting on my bench for about 2 years....)
Last week I installed (finally...) the ebrake cover to match the console and shift boot.... again sitting in the car for the last 2 years.
While I was in the trunk I am replacing the rear speakers with the Kee Audio units (Doors already done a long time ago....). Valance Speakers are next on the list.
Feels good not to look at the boxes on my bench....

Just bought my 2002 TA and I was sure I had some LS bits sitting around from my GXP and low and behold, MSD wires.. manufacture date in early '09. If they were wine they would be worth more...bloody box was still sealed, so while I didn't install them today I did do a bunch of little "new car" tweaks, cleaning and maintenance. At got my MPG baseline established. Aaah the joys of being "borderline" OCD.

at least you have a bench, I've got my Morimoto Mini projectors for my retrofit, my hooker cat-back, pacesetter headers, 4l60e shift kit/corvette servo (the 150+ dollar kit from CT powertrain), the remaining pieces I won't be using from the used BLS v1 kit I bought for the highbeams, a new catalytic converter and a hand full of other smaller parts in my room, then I have my old subwoofer and box, a set and a half of interior sail panel plastics, my torn down base model door panels and the extra kick panel plastics in the living room, then I've got my side skirts outside that I need to sand and install, then over at my parents basement garage I have a set of plugs and wires that I decoded to put off doing till the header install (and I bought those around black friday last year).
Edit: oh and a set of shocks and springs for the front suspension in the room too.

Just finished up the rest of the Kee Audio upgrade... WOW!!!!!!! The sound is tight, the Bazooka Subs in the Sail Panels are great. I am a moron because the door installs were WAY harder to do, and I did them 1.5 years ago! The rear and sails took all the time of 1 door.
