Need opinion
I just got a 2nd gen trans am that hasnt run for 15-20 yrs and i was trying to get some opinions on if the engine it has can be brought back to life. its a 400. the car has not seen rain since it was last driven. the engine has about 80k on it and the engine itself is near immaculate. most of the fluids have evaporated. the hoses appear to be pretty good but i want to get some input on what i should do?

theres a small bit of rust right behind the rear wheels on both sides but thats really it for rusting. interior is immaculate, one rip in driver seat.

First, make sure it hasn't seized by trying to turn the crankshaft by hand (breaker-bar and socket on the crank pully bolt). If it turns, I'd change the oil and coolant before trying to crank it w/ the starter. If there is gas in the tank, siphon it dry and put fresh gas in it. Can't hurt to check the plugs too. Hook-up a strong battery and crank away, pumping the accelerator to prime it until it fires. If it doesn't fire, check for spark and be sure fuel is making it to the carb (pull the air cleaner and check for the smell of gas). If you have spark and no gas, splash a bit down the carb and see if it'll fire. Once it starts, check the tranny fluid (if it's an AT) and see if it'll move. Once it's warmed up for a while, change oil & filter again, check all fluids and you should be good to go. If it's still running rough, check to make sure the carb (choke & all) is operating / linkages are moving properly. Plugs / wires / rotor / cap and lube the advance mechanism in the distributor should fix any electrical issues. Check the timing. Make sure exhaust flows good (no nests from varmints etc. Check brakes for leaks / proper operation & make sure the rear end fluid is full before putting miles on it.

Ok, ill see what some of these suggestions get me and ill keep it updated.
heres a question. the battery that i took out of it was corroded and it leaked all over the battery tray and terminals, after replacing the terminals and such i went to remove the tray and one corner snapped and is now stuck. the screw holding it in is extremely corroded, rusty and stripped from the rust and it will not budge. The only idea i got was to cut that tiny section out and maybe weld the corner of the new tray to that inner panel. Any ideas on how I should go about removing it? Ill upload some pics to help.
