Default Ram Air hood mod's

Living in the great white north, gives me time to play in the winter. Decided to make the Ram Air hood more functional. The car is not really driven in rain much, so I wasn't too worried about water, but I did put some Outer Wears water repelent cloth (the stuff the off road motor bike guys use on their air filters) in front of the oiled K&N air filter just in case. I did this last winter and I didn't have any problem all year with water, even getting caught in some good storms. I'm not much for posting, but what the heck...here's some pics

Really nice. I wonder how much more aerodynamic this could result in.

I made the mistake of not running baseline numbers first, so I don't have any good numbers to compare against, but I do quite a bit of thermo and air flow stuff at work, and things like this on a stationary object usually work pretty good. I would love to see the wind tunnel data of 4th gen TA...

I've have seen the under the front bumper fresh air kits, but the ram air hoods are so sexy, it's just wrong not to make the Ram Air hood work to full potential.

I believe it works very well and seals to the air box nicely, but without a verified result, I could say anything...(Its mainly a driver with twice a month road and track)

As far as making it, its mainly just milling time (it's a manual, old style Bridgeport mill) and some plastic (Took a few days, on and off in my free time). If anyone is interested, I could figure pricing, but I was more just playing...and I really love the look of that hood.

You should totally share that design.

I think there was a "Brian Greene" ram-air product for a while, but I don't think those are made anymore?

Very cool in any case...

Will have to try!!nice job! Wanted to keep air flowing straight thru instead of up into inside of hood now that its debaffled. But seen title as ram air mods and tried this while back to make look like throttle plate and open but didn't like the idea of possible cable locking throttle open (was hooked up to open with throttle) but if could use electric motor would be better but also makes opening smaller.just was playing with idea

Yeah Brian Green made a really nice piece that was actually featured in GMHTP mag. He used injection molding for the funnels but stopped making them in 2005 I think due to material cost rising and time. The mod was good for a .2 increase in the 1/4. I still have mine and love it....painted everything to match the car.

I've heard of the Brain Green kit, but never seen any pictures. Would anyone out there have pictures of his set up?

I see what you mean, it looks very similar, just not smoothed out. Thinking I might make a second one and throw it on the classified or eBay and see what happens, if it pays for a track day it'd worth it...

Depending on price, I'd buy one!

I'm picking up a 99 Trans Am WS6 clone from another member in a month and I'm already getting mod happy!!

I can provide information on how to have the lower plate made out of any metal you prefer. Here is a pic of mine in polished stainless. The link also shows the templates used to get it right.
