Firebird Headlights--ALL COMMENTS/QUESTIONS REGARDING HEADLIGHTS GO IN HERE

Anyone have any ideas? I cleaned up as many grounds as I could and replaced the batt. Also the alt seems fine (not sure about the volt. regulator though?) and I have replaced the positive side-post battery cable bolt. I noticed when the pass. side light doesn't pop up (only when auto activated for some reason, at night) it is in fact turned on, just not "popped"! Anyone?

If it's pulsing it could be low voltage or else the bulb is cracked and is dim. When the engine is idling the voltage is on the low side and may pulse a little. Normally headlight bulbs are bright enough that we can't see the pulse. If it's old and yellow though, the pulse may be visable.
Also, since you have a light sensor installed (US Firebirds don't, but I converted mine to Canada spec) there may be an issue in the DRL brain in the dash behind the radio to the upper right.
Try putting a digital multimeter on the battery when the headlight bulb is pulsing and see if the voltage is also pulsing. If it is, then maybe the voltage regulator in the alternator is close to going out. A really low idle speed can cause voltage pulsing too, so make sure that's not the cause.
If there is any binding between the headlight cover and the hood, that could cause it to not pop up.

Alright guys here is one for you. Put brass gears in. They worked great for 2 months. Now the other day only 1 light would come up. I played with the switch and the first day they would both come up. Now just one comes up. I unplugged the harnesses and they will both go up and down for about a half day then sometime neither one or just one?? This is so frustrating, but I know both motors are fine. Any ideas? Headlight switch or module?

Happened to me yesterday. I turned the switch off leaving the lights up. Tapped on the motor with a 3/8 ratchet, worked fine after that. Although I know theres something still not right.

Well I pulled really hard on the headlight switch...both went up and down. So I started to pull the dash and headlight switchout to replace the switch. Went to dinner, came back now the right one goes up and not the left one. When I left both went up(didn't even drive the car)!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you read the last few pages you'll see that O'reilly (I think) now carries replacement motors much cheaper than a GM dealer.

It definetly a voltage problem. Check the connection between the wires and the headlight plug. Those plugs get corroded. I replaced both my low beam plugs with some insulated female spade connectors. That fixed it right up. Polarity isn't an issue for the bulb, so don't worry about that.

The gear is probably stripped or close to it. Its like starting a car with a chip in the flywheel, if you get right on that chip it will make a horrible noise and not start, so you have to try again or move it. Same general concept.

Head lights are being wierd
The head lights on my 2000 trans am are acting wierd when i lock and unlock my doors with my remote they flip up and when i turn my parking lights on they come up and when they go down they sit there buzzing for about 5 seconds or so just seeing if anyone has had this problem or if anyone has any idea of what it could be

I literally have this same issue. Except it seems to last more than 5 seconds.. but maybe thats because the sound is so tedious lol. If I remember correctly, switching the plastic gears with brass ones will solve this problem permanent.. if not for a long long long time.
I dont believe there is a sponsor that sells this, so:
