Noticed the car started leaking again in what appeared to be the thermostat area. Tried to put a little RTV around the thermostat to see if that would help but it didnt. Also, In my infinite wisdom I torqued the bolts down too much and snapped the head off of one of them
This prevented me from taking the car to Cruisng The Coast, so that was a little frustrating...
Then I decided to just pull the whole water pump, scrape the rtv off, put a new thermostat gasket in, and remove the broken bolt. All was smooth, took my time, and I was able to get that done in a couple of hours. Reinstalled everything and started to fill it up with coolant. As I was filling it up I started to hear it dripping again, checked the thermostat and it was dry, and the water appearing to be coming from the pump itself. Off it comes again...
So I decided to just buy a new unit and be done with it. Got the new pump installed and not a drip since.
Noticed my alt wasn't charging properly as it was consistently in the low 12s after it got hot.
Decided to try an OEM 145 as opposed to the Remy 145 that was in it. Picked up the only KG3 Alt I could find at the junk yard and went home and installed it and it was worse-off than the Remy lol.
Went with a brand new AC Delco 335-1092 and it solved my issues thankfully
Ironed out all the little issues the car had, so I finally got an appointment to hit the dyno and finish up the tune this Friday! Interested to see what it makes after some more tuning, as compared to the last time it was on the dyno.
A little late, but here's the graph. These pulls were done in second gear as opposed to third the last time it was on the dyno, which I assume is the reason for the number discrepancy. Left the tune a little on the conservative side, but it feels strong and drives great, which is all I ask for and I'm happy with it!
Rack decided to take a dump on me this past week. It had been leaking a little, but we had a cold snap and the entirety of the fluid leaked out on the driveway.
Went with an ACDelco reman form Rockauto. Install was straight forward and easy. Luckily the rack had been replaced once before and the drivers side bolt was already flipped.
Also heres the video from the dyno session earlier this month
Had a large amount of smoke come from under the hood last week, turned out the HP power steering line had a pinhole leak in it and was spraying the header. Should have been a quick fix but the hose I got from Autozone (Duralast 80229) would thread into the rack, but not the pump. So I returned that and picked up another from O'Reillys and it has been working like a charm!
Also took a trip with my brother to pick up his new to him 05 Vette. 6 Speed LS2 car with 38k Miles, a Trickflow top end, TSP Headers/Mid-pipe, and a FAST 102 among other things. Unsure of future plans for it aside from some appearance mods. Car is strong!
So continues the trend of a truck hitting me after not seeing me. Newer Ram 2500 Big Horn went halfway into an intersection, then decided to throw it into reverse because he missed his turn and backed right into me with his hitch. I guess he didn't bother to use his backup camera either, or listen to his various parking sensors...or my horn. :/
Damage appears to be limited to the front bumper and headlight assembly. Hood came out unscathed thankfully.
