Default Taillights stay on after car is turned off...drains battery..(1989)

I have an '89 firebird and well the title is pretty much self-explanatory. I was wondering what the problem could be? I was thinking maybe a wiring problem.. any help would be appreciated thanks.

Sticky brake light switch? If they are on and you turn the car off, go and mash the brakes, see if the switch gets unstuck. Do the brake lights ever work properly? If not you should see about getting a new switch.

Yeah I think I may have to get a new switch. Only way to turn them off even the interior lights is to unplug the battery.

Wait the interior lights (dome light) are staying on? Are you sure the dimmer switch isn't turned all the way up? Or the gage lights are staying on? If the gage lights, check the headlight switch.

I can turn off the headlights and interior lights. When I plug my battery in the tail lights come on. And i tried smashing the brake all the way down, didn't do anything

Yeah, it has to be the brake light switch, shouldn't cost more than $30 at any parts store...
