Default The number sequence in which my car was made

Hey guys,

I was recommended to you guys, maybe you could help. I have an 2002 black WS.6 (M6), and I was trying to find out what number it was when it was made. Like I see some guys on cardomain.com showing there car off and saying it's 9,632 of 17,230 and I was just wondering how I can find out what number my car might be out of the total number of 02's made.

I saw the thread on how to find out a Camaro's by putting in a vin number, but is there one for Firebirds, or is there another place I may go to find out? On the door where the RPO codes it says the car was made in 09/01 which I do know my car was one of the last because that is when GM decided to stop production. But I wanted to find out how close to last it actually is.

Thanks,

Steve

the last six digits of your VIN will tell you what number you car is.....numbering starts at 100,001. The model year production must begin somewhere in June or July. My '00 'bird was number 1,171 for the 2000 model year, and it was assembled in July of '99.

The last 'bird rolled off the assembly line in August of 2002. It was a red convertible.

ok, I checked and i'm not sure where to get my numbers from to find out. My last 6 digits are 11,6008, but it says there were a total of 30,690 made. Maybe i'm just not understanding where to get my numbers from. Should I call that lady for the ASC numbers at that link you guys gave me?

The numbering started with 100,001. From the information you provided, that means your car was actually number 16,008 out of 30,690 for 2002. It's sort of confusing that they start with 100,001, but just drop the first "1" and you're set.

You're not doing anything wrong. Since they only built 30,000+ 'birds in 2002, you're right in saying that it doesn't add up. Maybe the Camaros and Firebirds were added together?

I'm assuming that the 103,122 is the last six digits of your VIN. The number of assembly (at the GM plant) started with 100,001. So if it started at 100,001, then that makes your car the 3,122 car built for the 2002 model year. As the other guys have mentioned, you'll need to contact ASC for the WS6 build number.

If I don't have my information correct, please let me know. I'm just basing all this off of what I've read.

My was order on jan 22 and I picked it up on May 17 so maybe being so late in production that might have something to do with my number or does anyone have any other ideas also what does asc or whatever it was do. Can they tell me what number my car was and so forth.

ASC did the WS6 conversions for GM. From what I've read, their facility was about 20 minutes away from the St. Therese plant. All the fourth-gen 'birds were assembled by GM with base model hoods. The Ram Air hoods were installed at the ASC plant.

From what I've found, it's looking to me like the 'production sequence' portion of the VIN is normally used to indicate the order in which the car was originally scheduled to enter the assembly process, among all of the cars for the year on that assembly line. So since the St. Therese plant was making both Camaros and Firebirds, the number in the VIN would be from among both of those together. And this number may not match up with the sequence in which the cars were actually finished, just in which they were planned to be started.

Some stuff to take a look at:

Hrm, in 1999 there were 42,098 Camaros and 36,219 Firebirds, for a total of 78,317 F-bodies. So you're right, that's just a bit off. I don't know what the deal is with this silly VIN stuff

Well I know that my car was delivered to a dealership in September of 2002 but the last 6 are 163131.
It was one one of the last but it would be nice to know exactly which one
