Turn Signal/DRL is out :(

Turn Signal/DRL is out :(
Sorry if this is in the wrong area, but TA's Front end is different so I thought I would post here. My driver side DRL/Turn signal lamp is out, and I know how to reach it and get through the access panel, and pulled the harness out with the bulb. But I'm so confused up right to this point. The bulb seems to be stuck in the socket. Am I just supposed to pull it out or twist it? Cause this sucker does not want to move. Can anyone give a suggestion? Thanks for your help.

They have a horrible history of taking on water and moisture. When my driver's side DRL/turn signal went out, it had fused itself together just like yours. I ended up just tossing the whole thing and starting over. They're only made by GM, so I'll save you the trouble of chasing one down at all the major parts store chains like I did. If you buy it at your local dealer, it'll cost you over $60.00 (I paid $60.72 at the dealer). Try the gmpartsdirect website. I think they're like $25.00 on there. GM part #12159662 for the socket, and GM part#9441840 for the bulb.

I just changed mine out tonight and the plastic was melted a little. My friend said that's normal and often, people have to replace the harness. The lights are supposed to pull straight out, no turning.

i got sick of my driving lights/turning signal bulbs blowing up
the housing that they sit in .. well.. how do i put this politely.
they SUCK
so, what i did was i drilled 2 holes in each housing (one in the bottom left corner, and one in the bottom right corner)... now theres places for the water to escape. instead of turning the housing into a swimming pool..
so yeah. i just did this 10 minutes ago, ill let you know how it turns out if you want.
takes 2 minutes to do, if you'd like to do it

most of this is due to the poor plastic used on the face of the lense. I took mine out and filled the whole thing with water to find out where the water was getting in. The front was cracked so i took some clear sealer and put it on both sides. works fine for now. Drilling holes in the bottom is also a good idea.

i was thinking about doing that, but decided i'm way too lazy to take that crap out and everything.. the drilling holes thing is a literally 2 minute fix
still no blown up bulbs after i did it, and went through a few heavy rains with the "fix" .. and! no water in the housing! (wonder why)

can anyone give me a clue where to drill the 2 holes to let the water out?
also, there is a little sheet that says the "connectors must be greased" what do i use to do that with? Knowing me, i'll use vaseline...

who says you can only get the sockets through gm i just picked up 2 from autozone last night and wired them up today and they work perfect. they were $7 a piece. they just take a different bulb than the stock ones but they fit and operate just like the originals

It's easy to drill the housing out. Two 10mm bolts to undo the flap underneath. Just reach up with the drill and go to town.
I drilled mine out last weekend and put smoked covers over the lights to try keeping as much water out as possible.
If I can go more than a month without replacing a bulb and cleaning out fused gunk, it'll be a record.

Is this a problem with the formulas and V6 firebirds also or just the TAs. I was involved in an accident and and am having the front bumper replaced and have always liked the formula over the TA front end.
