Default camaro firebird, which is better

is there any difference between 4th gen firebirds and camaros? other than appearance issues, are the two EXACTLY the same, any weight differences or performance issues?

trying to get a few interesting points of view on this topic...

The T/A is a little heavier than the Formula so if you're looking for speed, get a Formy. Thing is, unless you find a Formy like mine, you'll end up with 2.73 gears. Great for MPG but not so for racing. My Formy was ordered with 3.23 gears which is a nice compromise.

WS6 has a handling package as well.

The Birds also came with a better sound system as there are component speakers instead of coaxs.

That's all I can tell you... for now.

Since you're posting this in the Firebird forum, your answer as to which is better is kind of obvious

Mechanically, the cars are the same.

Firebirds look better and have better options.

In the 3rd Gen, Camaros were bargain basement in comparison. I once had an '88 IROC next to my '88 GTA, and the IROC, top of the line in Camaros, was like an econo-box in comparison.

I don't know if that continued in the 4th Gen or not, but it would not surprise me.

I hear T/As have the better seats too (4th Gen).

Part of the Firebirds better looks in 4th Gen is wider fenders, allows for wider tires more easily.

For general applications they are the same car and same performance.
Pick the one you like best and roll.
If you want to race competitevly then the lightest car is going to be the least optioned. Thus yielding the highest hp to weight ratio.
Unless ofcourse you ask one of the new gto owners, who think they can outrun a vette with it and that weight has no bearing.

I got rid of a Camaro to get the Firebird so I guess that is something, right? Just more aggressive looking to me, course my room-mate thinks Camaros look better, so it is just a matter of opinion because they are mechanically the same...also Firebird=flip up headlights, Camaro=solid mount headlights.

Performance wise the Z28 is the practically the exact same as a Formula or TA, and the Camaro SS is equal to the WS6 though with all of the SLP options added is same to a Firehawk. It kind of comes down to the apperance factor on these cars because they're practically the same car performance wise.

actually id side with the camaro, i like the aggresive look of the firebird but i prefer the camaro, seems more mysterious...

maybe its because i own one

anyway i had to pick either the camaro or the firebird forum and it looks like i ended up with the firebird one

Believe it or not a '05 GTO can beat a C5 Vette in a straight line.

Looks wise, the TA's and WS6's look better than the SS's or Z28's. IMO. Though I have seen very, very clean SS, and Z's on here, so its what you want.

If I were going to buy a stripper performace car, I would buy a Z28. I think the base model Camaro's look better than any base model firebird.

when car & driver tested the F-twins vs the mustang in 01 the WS6 came out a tenth or two faster and i think 2mph higher in top speed tests... but that's any given car on any given day so i wouldn't go by that. from what i've seen, the ws6 has better seats, but i will say that as cool as the flip up headlights are at first, i really can't stand them anymore. i kind of think of the WS6 as the Akuma to the SS' Ryu (to use antiquated Street Fighter analogies)

You should post this in the Vette area and get an unbiased, unadulterated, honest and highly subjective answer...........................OR not
