Tires - 2000 TA
I'm closing in on buying new tires for my 2000 ws6. I bought the car about a year ago, and it has Firehawks on it. The original owner hated the Goodyears ("too noisy, horrible in rain.."), and really loved the Firestones. Last I checked, they're telling me the Firehawks (for this size) have been D/C'd. I'm looking for something in the $140-170 range. I would appreciate some feedback and suggestions. Thanks in advance!

are you lookin for tires that grip really well, or that will last you a while? you can definatly get some damn good tires from Kumho, Sumitomo, toyo, or yokohama for that price range.
Ive run Yokohama Avid V-4s on my cars for 3 years and i have to say they are the best tire ive ever driven on. i put 30K on the set that was on my beretta. and that was including doing smoke shows. i had them on my formula and they hooked up mint after a bit of heating. and i will be putting them on my GTA. they are pretty damn good in the rain too. that would be my reccomendation.

I just got all 4 tires replaced. They were Goodyear Eagle F1's or something, and I put on Kumho ECSTA Supras on there. I noticed a huge difference, but then again the goodyears were pretty bald. I like them, and I paid 609 total, with warantees on all tires and such.

i just bought falken ze512's ($82 ea @ discount), i like em better than the goodyears and firehawks. the guy that mounted them told me they balance better than any other tire he sells. well see how they do in the long run, but i like them so far.

What size are you looking for? I was running a Falkin FK451 and they were great for the price!!! great in the ran, not loud good for street racing, nice wear. I would still be using them but they dont make a 285-40-17. I was using their 275-40-17 right now I got the nittos and they are good so far but cant really let you know how good they are their too new!!

I'm running Kumho 245/50/16's. Paid about $100 a piece, and after nearly 2 years and 35,000 miles they've worn much better than either of my Goodyear GSC sets. They don't hook as well, but that's what my race dot tires are for

firestone Wide Ovals
I just bought (5k ago) some new Firestone Wide Ovals and I like them - reasonably priced grip good wet or dry and so far are wearing well
I would buy another set too. on the power tour I scared my rider on a cloverleaf - he thought was going too fast and they stuck good! he was impressed.

I put on a set of the relatively new Cooper Zeon 2XS tires in April, 2004 and have been very pleased with them in every way. They are incredibly priced for their quality and are rated above most - if not all - of the tires mentioned here. It is just that they are not that well known yet. Check out Coopers website for more info. Good luck with your choice!

"The original owner hated the Goodyears ("too noisy, horrible in rain..").." Stop whinning about the noice, get a good catback and you won't hear a thing! I love my Goodyear F1 GS D3's, and they are available at Walmart and Sam's Club for about $175. They are the best tire I've ever had on a Trans Am, and I've had over 20 Trans Ams in the last 25 years.

I'll look into the Coopers, thanks. As far as the Goodyears, I didn't like 'em on my Z-28, and they wore out fast (I would buy the Firehawks again without a problem. Good tires, and they seem to last longer than the Goodyears and Falkens I had on my Camaros).
