No, traction control was an option, as far as I know.

I wish mine didn't have it. I've minimized or gotten rid of every possible wire under the hood and the traction control is the biggest eyesore now. I always turn it off anyway since it's only driven in fair weather.

If somebody without TC wants to trade my whole set-up -wires, linkage, traction control brain, the whole f#ggin' thing I'm up for it. Let me know. -Joshua

Don't think you're gonna get any takers on that one... TCS is pretty much useless on these cars, and I can't think of why anyone without it would wanna install it.

Would it be possible to re-route it under the dash? Or does that part of the TCS that snakes up next to the battery have to be in that location?

I"ve got it on my 'bird, and I guess I'm one of the few that was glad to have it when my car was still a DD. I think it helped a lot during the Winter trek back and forth to work. Now that it's not a DD, I've been considering the harness from SLP that overrides it until you want it on.

Good idea. I'd still have to extend the harnesses and I've already got the coils tucked away under the cowl, not sure if I can hide the tcs too.

Some people daily drive their cars in snow up north and through heavy rain. It can save you, but mine is a southern climate fair weather garage queen so "I" for sure don't need it. That doesn't mean somebody else doesn't.

What about underneath/near the PCM or to the left of the brake booster (behind the hood hinge?) Just typing out my thoughts as they come to mind....

Ah just wondering how much it helped out during snow? I guess from the below quite a bit?

>>I"ve got it on my 'bird, and I guess I'm one of the few that was glad to have it when my car was still a DD. I think it helped a lot during the Winter trek back and forth to work. Now that it's not a DD, I've been considering the harness from SLP that overrides it until you want it on.<<

Anyone else have input?

I am in the market right now and its one of the options I am looking for being included as I do get snow/freezing ice here and though wouldn't purposefully take a firebird into it.... sometimes it happens while your out you know

Curious about the mention/need of a harnes etc that overrides it, I assume currently it is just a button press to turn it on or off no?

The system automatically turns on each time the car is started. There is a button right underneath the HVAC controls to turn it off and on. If you've turned it off at the dragstrip for example, it will come back on the next time you stop/restart the car (a common occurance in the staging lanes).
