These fog lights are mainly for appearance and that's how I use them.

I ride with them on for a couple of reason, 1. It's just habit!!
2. You are more noticable when you have your lights on. Day time or not, you get noticed by more people.
Turning on my fog lights is just part of my routine when I get in the car. I put on my seat belt, hit the lights, and turn off TCS, drop the E-brake and I am off....Just habit

One officer said it could impair another driver, "just like if you had your highbeams on." I wanted to point out to him that highbeams point up and foglights point down, but I just didn't see that getting me anywhere. The second time it happened the officer pulled me over, looked at my DL, I think saw I wasn't some young kid, and just handed it back and said "turn your foglights off" as he walked away. I always wondered if he would have had more to say if I had been younger or scruffier.

Most states have laws that follow the federal requirements for minimum light intensity and visible distance at night. That means that it is illegal to drive with just foglights after dark. The legality at other times of day may vary between states.

I drive with mine on when it's raining or foggy, I don't use them at night very often because I replaced them with some Hella driving lights that are too bright to use when there is traffic within 1/2 mile

i use it as a useful tool when i'm driving. it's a lot easier for someone to see lights quickly approaching from behind. but that's not always the case, with people being all busy on the phone, eating a bowl of cereal, reading the map, drinking soda, smoking, blah blah blah blah.

I use my foglights when its getting dark, but never just riding around during the day. The foglights definitely add to the look at night, as stated by trans_am_31.
