Black Sappire Metallic
Does anyone know anything about this color? That is the color of my car, and I can't seem to find any prod numbers for it or anything. It definitely isn't NBM too, I've compared. Just asking, because I know some of you guys have connections.
Thanks

Lol, no seriously, ask most of the guys in the Phoenix F-bodies thread, they all said the same thing, then we compared it to NBMgreg's car and it is a different color. It's more blue. Plus it has a different RPO code than NBM. Chevy did have a Black Sapphire Metallic that they put on their F-bodies, just the chart I have, doesn't say if they put it on this year car. It's kind of a mystery, but it's NOT NBM, that I can assure you.

Well, if the paint code is different, then it's a different color. The easiest way to prove it is park it next to a navy blue metalic car and that will demonstrate the differences. Don't take offense to people saying it NBM and telling you that you're wrong, every monitor is different, and cameras don't always capture the true color accurately either.
Congrats on having a unique car, it definitely looks good.

I'm gonna have to say that its NBM, possibly repainted at some point and not matching the exact factory paint?
There are no listings anywhere for the color you are calling it on a Firebird.
One side note, my NBM Hawk has a factory sticker on the front inner bumper that says "Marine Blue". So it is possible that it was called something other than NBM in different parts of the country (Kind of like Chevy calling it Partiot red and Pontiac calling it Red, Monterey Maroon and Maple Red ....same colors different name)

it was MY car the we compared his too... and yes, it IS definately a different color. more dark, rich, and blue-er. there were alot of us hanging out, and every one of us noticed the huge difference in the two, his is not the same.
maybe its not BLACK sapphire metallic, but maybe dark sapphire metallic, since sapphire IS a blue afterall...

Hmmm, could be repainted, but from what I was told, the only paintwork done was the stripes and sail panel birds. I'll ask the previous owner. Gimme a minute and I'll post up this color sheet, and the RPO code.

If the paint code is different, it's a different color. I don't understand what the debate is about. Just like I said earlier, it's tough to distinquish colors after they've gone through a camera, then converted using computer software, then posted online. A lot of silver cars look pewter and vice versa. Same way with hugger orange and red. They can look the same depending on how the picture was taken and how each user's monitor and settings are configured.
I wish you were closer as I'd love to see the difference in person.
