Default RPO Question About a 1998 Trans Am

While looking at the RPO codes on my door, i noticed that I do not have have the code WS4, but i do have WS9. Are there any other codes for a 4th gen that would indicate a Trans Am? I am not sure if WS4 is merely an archaic code used on older generations. I am wondering if this car is a true Trans Am since ive had it since 1999, and it has always had the TA badging. As always, the internet has not yielded much reliable data. Any information would be much appreciated.

WEll if the car has the LS1 option then I would assume that if it has the T/A front facia, side ground effects, rear facia, high level spoiler, T-tops (although it was optional during the first two years of the LS1 cars) and leather that it is prob a T/A.

I really dont think someone would of have went thru all of the trouble to replicate a T/A using a v6 car or a Firebird Formula.

Are you the original owner?

I am the second owner. Yes, everything but the door codes show that it is a Trans Am. I would like to identify the true model so I can know what it truly is... I have seen several websites that have stated, "Y82 - TRANS AM OPTION" for 1998- 2002. I have seen an equal number of websites that state, "WS4 - TRANS AM OPTION." Since I lack an official list of RPO codes for 1998, i have no idea which guide to go by...

Y82 is the Trans Am option according to the RPO code list I have. WS9 is the Firebird upgrade to the LS1, or Formula if you wanna take it that way - always considered the WS9 to be the upgrade to the Formula and the Y82 to upgrade the Formula to the TA

I cannot find a WS4....... found WS1, WS3, WS5, WS6(of course), WS7, WS8, and WS9

Thanks much for the info. Now I know this second question is off topic, but what aftermarket hood is the best bang for the buck, slp or suncoast creations?

Neither, go to VFN, or a GM replacement.

True WS9 is the V8 Upgrade
All T/A's will have WS9 and Y82
All Formula's will have WS9 and W66
