Default g8 advice

hello every one i am new to the forum and i have a few questions for the sabby members. I have a 2009 g8gt that i just drooped in shop to get some upgrades( stage 3 port +polish heads, stage 2 cam , arh 1 7/8 lt offroad system, D40 1 chamber flowmaster mufflers and 150 wet shot of ntrous) I want to ask about the rear end, i am thinking of installing 3.70 gears in the rear but i dont know if the stock rear end would be able to handle the power. estimated power is 460 rwhp and about 550 with nitrous. please reply with any helpful advice or suggestions. thanks.

Get a rear end from a 2010 camaro. It has a larger ring gear 8.5 instead of 8.2 and will handle more power. There are also more gear options. You might want to comsider a set of G-force axles as well at that power level.

Virus is correct. Greg at Pace has the best prices on new ones. I believe they are $1050. You could also look for a used one from a junkyard but they dont normally go for alot less than a new one. The Camaro diff is the next mod for my car and I will probably just order it from Greg unless I come accross one for a good deal.

There have been people on the G8 boards to break them with just bolt-ons and a stall converter w/ DR's. There are also others with H/C setup that are still on the stock rear. I think with the power level you will be at you are on borrowed time for the rear and axles.

My stock diff is still holding up on street tires and I have 434rwhp but I am prepared for it to go in the spring when I go to the track and throw on some sticky tires. You are correct traction is non-existent in 1st and 2nd.

You should have a strong setup. I live in VA. If you are in TX you should have Patrick G tune your car. He is an excellent tuner and has a 500rwhp G8.
