that's what i was thinking. it may have had the gears changed. if it has 3.91s your speedo won't be off a set number of MPH but be off about 13%. you can reprogam it if that's it

some GTOs have had gauge cluster problems. Speedo and temp gauge thing. Id try and find out if you go have gears first, otherwise take it in and have it recalibrated.

So I just got my car inspected in NJ and passed, when I am exiting from the inspection station, the speedometer jumps (while stopped at a light) to 60 MPH. Then it treated 60 like the new Zero and swept up from there as I accelerated. I tried pulling over and shutting off the car and re-starting it but the speedometer did not correct it self. Now, I had already been to the dealership over a year ago for "erratic gauges" and I didn't want to go back (no longer under warranty). So I tried this...
Shut the car off, hold down the MODE and SET buttons together and turn the key to accessory position. The Speedometer needle dropped by a 20MPH increment to 40MPH. I repeated this two more times, each time the speedometer dropped by another 20 MPH increment, to bring the needle back to 0MPH. This could save someone from a trip to the stealership, so I thought I'd post it.
