It's a SV8 the base model of the V8's in aus.
Mods etc
Ls1 232/234 comp cam, comp pushrods, PAC springs. 85mm throttle body and ported LS6 intake manifold, orrsom otr intake with mafless tune
GM motorsport ripshifter 3.9 diff
Lowered with Kings springs and monroe shocks
Heres dyno sheet, we use rwkw's(rear wheel kilowatts) in aus so not sure what the translates to in HP

Same car just with 4 doors and different front. Our commodore in this shape started in 97 the monaro/GTO came out in late 02 here and made it's way over to you guys(not sure when). Mechanically identical we had 5.7's all the time our HSV models got the Ls2 in late 04 onwards

The Speed Channel shows some races from down under. V8 Super Cars.
With all the decals and exotic paint jobs it's tough to tell what all is racing. I beleive the Holden racing a G8? True?
