I hate the shape of the GTO...

Well for me, since the day they first came out, I think they just look like a special edition of the grand prix. Looks nothing like the original. Has NONE of the heritage of the original. Look at the new Mustang, Camaro, Challenger. You can see the classic lines in them. The other failure for me is the Charger. Where does it look anything like the original?
The modern GTO is the direct evolution of what a GTO would have been had it stayed in production and the 05-06 outperforms every GTO ever so....yes it has ALL of the heritage of the original and THEN SOME.

i love my midnight blue, its stock appearance wise but plan on some scoop stripes and tinted windows and down the road some, tsw's. i love the looks and it would be better if i would make her look better instead of making her run better

I was just pointing out that a majority of people would say the GTO is a fail because its not retro. When the truth is a vast majority of cars with old names aren't retro, like the 4th gen Camaro, or Trans Am's, aren't retro at all.

They started shipping the gto's over before the whole retro fad got started with the mustang.

At first I was all about retro... but now I see it this way, when do cars evolve? they have to at some point, I think the reason the GTO didn't see sales was because of poor marketing and lousy business moves from Pontiac. (yes I know it was a holden that doesnt change anything for me) I really have to say I liked the mustang before they went retro... along with the Chevy and dodges retro movements... I think they look like cheap crap.. yes cars are a fashion statement for some but honestly, do you want to wear the same thing everyone else is?

I love the GTOs. I want to own a 6sp LS2 someday. I'm trying to get a job soon and gonna save up to sell my z28 most likely to get a Goat. Not because i want something faster, but i just want something newer and nicer for myself. What kinda mpgs do the ls2 6 speeds get??

I mean the retro muscle car thing, and nothing wrong with it I think its cool *** hell but it is going to go away, just common sense. Unless gm/ford retro's each generation for a bit, that maybe a cool trick to pull off..

Actually a lot of cars have styling details from older models, but they are usually so subtle that most people don't recognize them. The new Corvette and new Malibu have quite a few small designs from previous models, and so do many other cars. Look at how similar the GTO is to the 97-03 Grand Prix coupe, from a distance it's hard to tell them apart. It's nearly impossible to come up a new car design and not use some things that were already done before on a car.
